Do these rings look right?

The bottom design looks best and I agree with Varney that if you add a little more ebony it will look even better. I think the bottom cue with those different rings looks great. You could even add silver tracks or something to the rings to give it a little more pop, but the bottom looks best.

By the way, what type of program or software are you using to create these designs?
 
I played around in MS Paint for a bit. If you can make this, you just made my dream cue and I shall call you god. :D

Since you are building your "keep it forever" dream cue....please use no metal rings. Sure many use them with no problems....but I'd rather have peace of mind knowing I have no worries of them popping the clear years down the road. You never know where you may live in 10 yrs...or you may ONCE forget and leave it in a car with extreme temps. Think about it...you never see a SW with metal rings...there is a reason. And after I finish a horribly past due one now...you'll never see another KV with metal. ;)
 
I'm leaning toward the last cue I posted or a version of the first one with thinner rings and longer ebony on the butt sleeve.

Jcommie - I did do a cue with windows in the buttsleeve for my last design. It's being built right now:

I also got a couple PMs about what I used to create the design. I used Macromedia Fireworks. They got purchased by Adobe though, so now it's an Adobe product:

I also use that same product to design the websites I make for cue makers. It's a very useful tool!

Use complementary colors! Matching veneers with wood is like matching ties with a shirt! Don't use similar colors! :D

Idk if that's actually true, I just happen to believe that.
 
Cue looks great. Amboyna is a beautiful wood and it looks great with ebony. But something still looks off with the butt sleeve. Have you thought about alternatives for the butt or is that what the customer wants? Ive always been a fan of veneered boxes... would be interesting to have three veneer boxes in the buttsleeve in what is otherwise a SW style cue. Or, as kevin pointed out, I think a full amboyna butt sleeve look awesome.
 
rings look so much like my player's... and some other of our works... it would look great i'm sure. just a suggestion though, maybe make it a little thinner... just my personal suggestion. :)

I already have an Ebony/Amboyna cue coming with veneered windows, so I want this one to be different.

I think I'll try flipping the buttsleeve and see how I like that.

Agreed! I also think a slightly thinner ring would make this desing pop!
