Evenin everyone;
Movin to Central Utah (East of I-15), at the end of the month and was wonderin if there's any where to shoot a good game in the central part of the State? I've seen some places listed in Salt Lake City, and a few other places right near SLC, but it's like the ground opened up an swallowed everything till ya get down near St. George.
Where I'll be kinda splits it in the middle...
Thanks for any help

pool halls are outlawed in Utah:p

Just kidding. Not sure. Im sure there is a local scene though

When you arrive in UTAH you will be met by boys on Bicycles in Black Suit, they will driect you to the one fun place in each Ward. It is called a Stake House.

Ran inta a flock of'em in Va. Beach when I lived there...almost as thick as seagulls, ya think the 2 might be related?

You are so right about that. I recently drove on the 70 between the I-15 and Green River and there was barely any hint of civilization. Beautiful state but hardly any pool that I know of outside the SLC area.

I tried to find a game when I was in Provo a few years back, and every time I asked to play some cheap sets, I would get a polite refusal, followed by a look that I would describe as somewhere between sympathy and disgust. I played some college kids for fun, but that's about it. Not sure about the rest of the state.

there's a place in ogdin that you can get played.ace brown owns a place there.what do you think its called?browns billiards.right.its on wall ave in ogden.you can bet it up if you want.

walk easy

Utah is one of my favorite states and I have some good friends there. Having said that, do get local advice. Some of the roughest places to play pool in the country are or were right in Salt Lake.

As for Mormons, they are just like everyone else, good, bad, and so so. For the record I find the instant ridicule of Mormons in some of these posts as soon as Utah is mentioned offensive.

Browns Billiards in Ogden, owned by Ace Brown, great player. EO's in West Valley, Jeff Clark owns and plays there and is a good player.

I appericate the "do get local advice" part, however, neither Cocobolo Cowboy or my self mentioned the word Mormon. If your mind jumped to that conclusion you may want to rethink your own mindset in that reguard.
Not knowing Cocobolo Cowboy's experiences I cannot talk for him, I can only say that in the 11 years that I lived in Va.Bch., I think I averaged about one visit every 2or 3 months. Never the same 2 as they do travel in pairs that , to me indiates a large number of them being present in the area.
There are probably a large number of members of this forum that may not have known about the way in which they do their 2 years of missionary work for the LDS church. My personnal feelings are; Once someone tells you that they do not want to listen, after hearing them out the first time, they should make a note of it (= do not call list), and not return. Simple, Basic courtisy that's all.
Again, you are the one that jumped in and labeled the "young men on bicycles in black suits" and the "thick as seagulls" comments.
No hard feelings. I'm still new here and have read quite afew of your posts. I've agreed with some and not with others but havenot jumped in and wagged my finger in your direction. That is my perogitive, as is yours to agree or not with anything that I say. I will not attempt to label anything you say only take it as you have some reason for the comment and that is your business. That's all.
Sorry, got a little long winded there.
Do have a good day, have some good rolls and enjoy'em.

added the word not in blue to correct my statement.

Nope, neither of you said Mormon. However that doesn't change anything and indeed this BS follow-up instead of acknowledging the comments were inappropriate just concretes your prejudice and bigotry. I found the comments offensive, I still do.

I have dozens of Baptist and Protestant evangelists approach me for every Mormon or Jehovah's Witness. I'm not interested in what any of them have to offer. Odd that people rarely take cheap shots at any but the smaller groups.

PS the good rep was an accident.

Sanpete Co.

I am about 60 miles away from there (depending on where). There is probably not much happening in that area, save a few local bars. Maybe in Richfield. Let me know when you get moved and settled. If you wanna come my way we can shoot some.

I run I 15 frequently when going fishing on the Henrys Fork, or West Yellowstone AREA. I normally shut down in BRIGHAM CITY UT the first night, and head to a local place called WINGERS for a couple of Beer, and some of their FAMOUS WINGS. I always get strange looks from the locals when they seem me having a few beers. I wonder how they would feel if I walk u to them and asked where they felt it necessary to have so many kids?

Damian:

Is that all the woofing you've got? You must be out of practice. JK

Anyway, for some reason the Ritz refuses to turn on the air conditioning and it's been about 95 degrees here lately. EO's is the only bearable place to play on a 9 footer right now unless Andy installed AC in his garage. Of course Damian will bet it up on the barbox too.

Sorry to the OP, I realize this doesn't really help you find any places to play in central UT.

Nope no AC yet. But I'm working on it. Right now if I keep it shut throughout the day with a high powered fan running it stays at about 72-75 degrees.

I'll probably be getting heating done in there pretty soon too.

To the original poster- If you come to Salt Lake I will probably play you some cheap sets or just for fun. Just ask for Andy @ the Ritz or shoot me a PM... I just got a new job so I will probably be starting to gamble a little more.

-Andy

PS- Damian, please give me a call about your DVD's when you get some free time...
Kevin, give me a call too. I might be going to that tourney @ the Point After Thursday..

I like EO's when I am in Utah, a guy who goes by the name of Preacher will bet it up with you on the 9 footers, or a good game of Golf on the 12' by 6'. Their is another guy, the local spiffy diffy, but I don't remember his name, good shot and he likes to play for cheese.
