Payouts?

At $12 per person a night($60 a team), what are the proposed payouts per session? Are the other 6 teams that did not make it to Vegas out all that money from the previous year trying to qualify? Since this is a brand new league, you would need well over a 500 teams to guarantee a payout at the end of every session and to be able to send 1 out of 7 teams to Vegas unless the cut for Sigel and the League Operator are at a minimum.

How much is the APA a night per person? Johnnyt

This sounds like the Mike Sigel thing. If so I would bet there is one already being set up in your area.
Check out the website

I was asked a couple of questions that I would like to respond to:

What are the payouts at the end of the session?

--The main focus on this league is to qualify for the Championships in Las Vegas, so there are no session payouts. The payouts are paid to the teams that qualify for the Global Championships.

--Once you qualify from your local Venue, you go onto the Regional PlayOffs, from the Regional Playoffs which are played against the Ghost and you play at your home table, you post your team score (max 30 points per player times 5 players equals 150 maximum points per team).

-----If you dont quite understand, go to the gppaleague.com and go to the 'DEMONSTRATION' link and watch Mike Sigel explain how the playoffs work.

However many teams are chosen from the Regional Playoffs will go to the Global Championships in Las Vegas. Those teams that qualify for Las Vegas will have a guaranteed minimum cash payout (at this time that amount has not been set, at this time we don't have the specifics if travel and hotel will be included or you will have to book and pay your own out of the prize fund, still being finalized).

--Are the other 6 teams paid?

--No, this is how such a large payout is possible. Other league offers $25,000 1st place Prize. The GPPA is guaranteed a 1st place prize of 1/4 of a MILLION dollars, Paid in Cash at the Final Game in Las Vegas. It is a chance for people to get together and play pool at the same time have much better than Other Pool Leagues average chance to go to Las Vegas and then if you qualify to go to Las Vegas you will be guaranteed a PayOff at the end of the Global Championship.

GPPA, if you qualify for Las Vegas, you are guaranteed to receive a Cash Payout at the end of the Global Championship Session in Las Vegas.

Hope this explains some of the questions,

Keep em' coming and if you have any comments feel free, but try to be optimistic and positive. We are trying to offer something new and improved and give Amateur Pool Players a chance to win some real money at the same time growing the Game. Get involved and come sign up to try and qualify. It only take a 16 week commitment to qualify your team for the Regional Playoffs. If you dont like it, you can always drop out. But, with a 16 week committment, you could be on your way to Las Vegas and might be coming home with $250,000. Could you use this amount of money for something??

I THINK YOU CAN FIND SOMETHING TO SPEND A 1/4 MILLION DOLLARS ON!!!!!

One other question that was asked,

What is the weekly league fee for the APA?

--$8 is the weekly league fee for the APA

With the GPPA, we are changing this, if you qualify and go to Las Vegas your team will be getting a PayOut, the exact amount has not been decided. No its not a $1, or $100, but the exact amount will not be decided until first few weeks of Play.

Other leagues besides APA

I just wanted to point out that there are other leagues out there besides APA. I agree, the APA only sends a small percentage of teams to their national event in Vegas every year. The local APA here does charge $8 a night to play and are all about the mighty dollar. There are also other leagues that can offer different things as well.

There are quite a few other leagues(TAP, VNEA, ACS & BCA) in this area(Hillsborough & Polk) with less nightly expense as well. With TAP 1 out of 17 teams gets a paid trip to their National event and it's not Vegas every year. They also get very nice payouts after every session(15 weeks). Does every team win something? That answer would be no. But, every team has a fair chance to play and get qualified for a chance to go to their national event. Their league only charges $7 a night as well.

With ACS and BCA, every team can go to Vegas if they choose.

At $12 a night in this economy, you would be hard pressed to find enough players to play in this new league. As you may well know, pool players are quite stingy with their money. Another league(Pool 300) tried to get going around here recently. With high($12) nightly play, it never took off. Everyone said the nightly cost were too high.

The concept in your league is interesting and different. I wish you the best in your future venture.

Why not try it for a commitment of 16weeks,

Play for 16 weeks and your team can go to Las Vegas and win

$250,000,

Why not give it a shot.

Forward me an email or pm if you are interested in playing in the up and coming Practice Tournaments.

This will allow you to play in the GPPA ball in hand format and see if you like it and want to try to put a team together. Also, there will be other individual players that are looking for others to get together to form teams.

PM me or email me and I will put you on the 'PRACTICE TOURNAMENT' list.

Tournaments will be limited to 64 players.

If you miss out on the first tournament, I will attempt to do one more before the end of April, if you missed out on the first tournament because it filled up, you will be put on the second list.

Mike...Please do not start trying to compare the GPPA to APA or other leagues. Your figures are not correct. APA can send 1 team to Vegas for every 20 teams, not 45-50. The number that go is up the the local LO.

If you do qualify for Vegas with the APA, each team is paid last place prize money in cash BEFORE they even play any matches...so it is not true that you could get to Vegas, lose and get nothing.

People are already skeptical about you being involved with this league. Don't make it worse by badmouthing other leagues. Promote the positives only. I had the opportunity to run the franchise in our area, even before you did, and chose not to, for various reasons. I wish you the best of luck, but PLEASE do not start the comparison BS. Stay on the high side.

The overall average of team in other league that go to the Championships is 1 in 40 to 1 in 50.

GPPA average is going to be 1 in 7 teams!!!

Other leagues dont guarantee a cash payout if you qualify for Las Vegas.

GPPA, if you qualify for Las Vegas, you are guaranteed to receive a Cash Payout at the end of the Global Championship Session in Las Vegas.

---On average 1 in 45 teams qualify to go to Las Vegas through the APA

--Also if you qualify to Las Vegas in the APA, you can play and lose and not win a Dollar.

Thanks!

Scott, you are right,

I was not trying to bad mouth any leagues, just making comparisons.

I myself play on a APA league. Just as you have and have been a League Operator,

I am not trying to take players away from another league, but just give the complete players base choices on what they can do with there time and potential monies.

If I am incorrect with the stats on the company wide league numbers, I apologize, I was provided these by a league operator, so I took them at their word.

CHOICES, this is the issue I am trying to raise.

Also, bringing in more players to the overall league playing pool. If a new option brings in 35,000 more players it is good for everyone involved in the Amateur Pool playing business. For that matter, even 1 new player that was not playing before is a positive for the Amateur Pool Playing Business.

As I had stated before, give something new a chance, see if it works and go from there.

5 Player Team Playing 16 weeks investing $12 a week can win you:

$250,000

Where else is that potential return on investment available in any other venue in the Amateur Pool Playing World??

There isn't.

But it is just another choice for Pool Players to check out, try and if they don't like itm they can move onto something else.

I hope others get a little excited and give it a chance,

Minimal risk with a lot of upside,

Respectfully

Mike 'acedonkeyace' Kennedy

PS. If anyone took whatever I had stated as a negative remark toward another league, I do apologize and did not mean to do this. I have removed a few points that someone could construe as a negative comment towards another league.

My bad, I did not mean to do that.

All respect to all pool players and all pool leagues and just Pool in general.
