How many of you that own, Barry Szamboti, Hercek,Gina,Bob Manzino,Searing,Hayley,Bill Schick, actually play them. I would guess that a good number of them are put up not played and that you use another cue to play with. You may use Sugartree,Blackcreek,Southwest,Bender,Patrick,Kiekel,Jensen,Onley, etc. This is not to say the playing cue is any less in quality workmanship or playability than the others they have not for whatever reason reached that mythical realm. i am just curious as to how many of these makers cues are actually bread and butter and not put up.

Thanks

My guess would be that more highend custom cues are purchased to play with, than to sit on a shelf. I play, or played with all of mine...Balabushka, Szamboti, Ginacue, Josswest, Samsara, Cognoscenti, and several others. JMO

Personally, I would play them with one shaft and leave the other shaft un-chalked. However, I have the ability to play with a cue without whacking it on the table. It amazes me when I look at a person's cue and it's all dinged up like they don't even care.

It's an interesting question, and would probably make a good poll.

Myself I played my Gus from 1982 to 1996 when I sold it, I played Barrys,Bill Schicks,Kiekel,Bender, etc when I owned them. I can not have one and not play it.

Never owned a cue I wouldn't play with. I've bought and sold cues that haven't made it to the table but only because of the time frame of ownership.

I've talk about this before , every so often I go on a date night and pull maybe a dozen or so cues that are mostly collectors and take them out for some play if they don't ever hit a pool ball , then they aren't ever a pool cue.

:)

I have owned, and played with cues that today would be worth a TON!, but in my infinite 20something wisdom......I sold them to make a few bucks.

My favorite cue of all time was a plain jane 4 pointer rosewood Black Boar.
