Here is likely the best preserved example of the equipment used- note the unexpectedly vibrant colors and the fact the cue (or "urrghk", as they called it) approaces the length of the table itself.

I do not think Cavemen played pool. They were much too busy hunting and gathering, and making Cave Babies.

Absolutely!!! It doesn't matter what skills they poses but when 2 or more males gather there will be games of challenge, either existing or new games. A caveman that keeps losing will keep inventing different challenges until he finds one that he is superior at. It really is no different than today.
