Do you think Trick Shot Magic is bad for pool?

Its boring to me. They should do tricks that could possible be shots in a game. When then pull out cue balls the size of bowling balls its not about pool anymore. I record all billiards that come on tv and when I look at the DVR and it says trick shot whatever - I just delete it.

Exactly the same thing I do. Let's see some trick shots where they have to shoot a ridiculous shot, come 4 rails for shape and stop on a dime. That's more interesting to me.

I placed 9th in the Artistic Pool Challenge in Vegas the other year and those are the types of shots on Trick Shot Magic. Stroke Shots, Combo Shots, Bank Shots, Speed Shots, etc. Go 5 rails with whitey and freeze on this ball.

SPEED POOL is another animal though. It is making a f'n mockery of the game.

I agree with rivercity on this one. Trick shots are fine. Theyre even good for free beers every now and then; or to impress the chicks. But speed pool? come on. Can you imagine how retarded youd look running around the table while your buddy times you?

I think the ufc should be combined with pool! I can see it now, Earl is getting ready to pocket the game ball then gets hit over the head with one of his own ankle weights!!! Made for t.v:eek:

i think its a good way to attract people that are not that serious, not playing pool,or just love watching pool and maybe attract them to play the game :D

there is nothing more side show than trick shot pool. I think it is not good for making the game more popular at all. :(

When I'm in the Sates, I watch pool on ESPN Classic every morning at 10 Central. But when it is Trick Shot Magic, I always end up watching something else.

I think the trickshot magic thing is going in circles....

it's for a different audience than you guys who wanna see 14.1 on TV. Since I'm a golfer I'm kinda spoiled...I can watch the Masters or US Open on TV (or even replays of old ones since golf has it's own channel), but I don't have to watch things like Long Drive contests, Father/Son scrambles, multi-tour (men's, women's, and senior's) events, or even "celebrity" golf. While I wouldn't tune into most of those, there are many who do. It draws "other than hardcore golfers" as fans...fine by me. I know you don't have the options to watch what you do wanna see on TV (a shame, truly), but trickshots and speedpool apparently do garner interest or it wouldn't be aired. It's not BAD for pool; though it may not be what you'd want programed. There could be NO billiards related programming, and I can't believe some of you would say that that would be better!! Nobody is forcing you to watch it, so don't. If it brings even a couple of otherwise uninterested folks into the game (which you know is a possibility) it's GOOD. Still not what you wanna see, but GOOD, and much better than NOTHING at all....

I think its good. shoot the guys on the fishing forum I post on are even talking about it.

Anything positive and fun with pool can't be overly bad for the game. If it makes some kid want to go play then all the better.

Exactly, its just a different aspect thats challenging in its own way that provides a different level of entertainment.

It can attract people who know nothing about pool to pool because it draws interest.

So no, its not bad. Especially when you have representatives who are ambassadors of pool like Dr. Cue Rossman who represent the sport greatly support the playing side of it too.

I also find it entertaining to watch.

Yes any pool on TV is good...but they should have pool relevant shots....NO PROPS ALLOWED! please! skill shots would bring in more people anyways.

I mean I used to love to watch trick shot show...when Mike Massey would jump a ball into a boot as I mentioned before, that took skill. Rosman used to do stroke shots that were impressive. I just think that props and creativity points are hurting the actual demonstration.

If you pull off a shot that no one else can do because of your skill, thats impressive.

If you pull off a shot that no one else can do because no one else has tried it...that just means no one else has tried it.. thus not impressive.

Trick shots and those shooters do a lot for pool

Ever go to VF? During the day the guys doing the trick shots usually have a pretty good crowd. Trick shots are very popular with people who don't normally play pool. Do a mall exhibition or a home show exhibition and you'll draw a good crowd. At Pool Table Magics corporate parties Marks show is always very well received. He also does very well crowd wise when Team Europe stops by as they did last month. It's a necessity for the recreational shooter as well as the non-gamblers.

Even when I shoot in a bar, the few trick shots I know always draw 10-15 people to the table. So I have to say in general, yes they are good for pool.

As a non bowler, I love watching trick bowling instead of regular. Regular puts me to sleep.

Celebrity look alike...

The one guy from speed pool looks like the idiot from Whose Line Is It Anyway....

Nothin like seein a bunch of slightly out of shape 40 year olds running around a table like Earl is chasing them down with a broken Cuetec.

pool and trick shots are 2 different things, enjoy each for what it is. nothing more or nothing less. they are mutially exclusive.
