Do you use a safe?

Adding an extra closet has, never in history caused house value to fall:smile:

Add the closet and put an exterior metal door with deadbolts and reinforce the walls/ceiling and put a air vent in ceiling.

If you already have a closet that your not using, well, there you go.

If i had anything of value i would do it but, im as poor as a church mouse.

The average burglar likely couldn’t tell an expensive cue from a cheap one. He would probably carry off your tv & stereo first. If he DOES have the time/nerve to really clean your place out, you will likely soon find your cues at a local pawnshop. Do you have them marked somehow for identification, so you can prove ownership?

Heck ya

My gun safe is fire and water proof, supposedly it floats, so they recommend bolting to floor. Any way, fire proof and water proof does not last forever, no matter what the manufacturer states.

You pretty much get what you pay for, cheap equals cheap safe construction. I know people who had a house fire and by the time they got into their safe it was a water logged rust bucket.

Safes are also like tents, if it says a 8 man tent you may have room for 4 people, a 36 gun safe gives you room for 18 guns, etc.

My safe is bolted to the floor and attached to the wall and I have cameras, motion detectors, etc. They send notifications to my phone. Crooks have taken pretty big safes and they worry about opening them once they get to their hidden lair.

We have some paper work in our safety deposit box as well as a couple of other items. Guns, cues and what ever go in the safe. I keep a few guns in the house so I may have quick access to them. Cues are locked up when we are gone for awhile.

Research them and buy the best you can afford. There is a big difference between a quality safe and a metal locking un cabinet.

Any home safe can be breached.

A $5000 safe can be opened with a $10 tool in 15 minutes using no special skills.

Concealment is imperative.

some excellent suggestions

I like concealment - I have to get a hamper!

Something like the vent idea or the xmas box.

I live alone, so if I hid them and passed, there would be a great story of future homeowners remodeling and finding some nice cues hidden in the walls.

Thank you all very much, I have gotten some excellent advice and a couple of new directions to follow.

I have had a safe for the last 30 years... dehumidified and bolted down.... no other way to go if you want to keep stuff safe..IMHO

Interestingly though..... the security consultant for my uber high end clients recommends not having a safe...only hidden areas that no one would find. like hampers.. lol

That's genius. Nobody's gonna pick through a bunch of dirty undies and smelly t-shirts looking for something valuable.

I keep a grand in cash around for emergencies since that blackout back 15 or so years ago. I always kept it in a sport coat that I never wear any more and try to just forget it's there so I'm not constantly dipping into it. It works because I had it in my car and came within 10 minutes of donating the coat along with a bunch of other clothes I was taking to Salvation Army. I moved it to a less portable place.

Dang, some serious skid marks right-dar!

You know what, im betting thats what a thief's undies would look like after walking in and finding me home....as I'm pro guns, executions....you name it.

Im a firm believer in a very fast trial, as in...on the spot trial.

Yep, he walks through my room, picks up my cue, walks to the door when he hears something, stops and then realizes he has but a few seconds to live.

Yes, Im serious. There are more like me than most think there are. Would be robbers are much more careful in my neck of the woods. They have to be or their career/life is usually extremely short.

Safe? Yes IMO
Suggested, Home Alarm System (Cell Serviced)? Yes, Necessary
Suggested, Cameras recording to the "cloud"? Yes, Necessary

With those, the chances of you loosing your stuff in a robery are GREATLY reduced.

Any body see the Evil Dead series? Not the movies. Showtime.

Ash in the first episode. He hits a pressure switch in his trailer and this shotgun pops up out of the floor into his hands - awesome!!!
I wanted to make a gif. not that talented.

There is "protection" distributed throughout my house.

I do not have the biggest faith in security systems. My knowledge is most likely obsolete though.

With that said, you hear about the false alarms, and would help get there in time to stop anything?

My mind goes back to that Allstate commercial with "Mayhem" - I steal cars, because that's what I do!
What!, What!, What!
One of the best commercials out there.

Gonna conceal!
