Wow that sucks Steve:( . Where is the "dance club" going to be:confused: ? Upstairs in the bar area or downstairs in the club:confused: ?

For anyone who doesn't know, the tables there are in great shape:D . It is one of my faverite rooms:cool: , and the best room for tournaments I've ever been in:cool: .

I hope the pool stays alive:eek: , we need good rooms like this one:cool: .

Good Luck Steve...

Pete

super clean...

bump for CountryClub. Anyone whos been there will tell you that these tables are super clean and in great condition.

I have to agree

Country Club USA is by far the nicest and most comfortable hall I have ever been to. The tables are top notch, and they have a few shimmed tables as well. They keep there tables in prestine condition and the prices are fair. I think the atmosphere is perfect with bleachers to seat all the rail birds when people are matching up. I just wish they still had the old billiard tables.

The Pool Room Is Making it But having 48 tables in a room now is just to many so Dave is the Owner of the Plaza and we are just taking 3000sf of the space and changing it with the times and the closest under 21 dance club is over 50 miles away.
We will still have 3 rooms with 34 tables 2 full bars and a kitchen & along with adding this Dance Club Area it will also be a Banquette room that will seat 150+ people.
JUST GOTTA MOVE WITH THE TIMES:)
Pool has had its ups and downs over many years now and when it comes back up we will make the changes to our room to be there for Pool!

Thanks Steve

"Say it ain't Joe, say it ain't so".

First Maximillians (which is NOT in the same category with Country Club) turns over a 1/3 of their space for a daycare center giving up 10 tables. Now the class of New England pool rooms gives up space to a dance club of all things. You won't really still have 3 rooms, I'd hardly call the parking lot level room (I forget it's name) a pool room. At least you'll still have 2 rooms, but I find it a real bad sign for New England pool. I'm pretty sure Max's is losing their shirt and not because they spend money on table maintenance. Renaissance just went under in Quincy, but that may have had something to do with a road being put thru where they were. Probably didn't figure it was worth moving.

At any rate, wish you luck in maintaining what is left.

The 3rd & 4th row area in the Main room has not been rented out in over 2 years so this will not make an inpact on our pool room the new club will have a new Entrance.
Most large Pool rooms around the country are just taking out tables and adding Bands to there rooms to make up for slow pool but that will only hurt the pool room more with all the loud music.

Thanks Steve

I agree with that; then you just have a 1/2 a$$ nightclub and a 1/2 a$$ pool room. I play a couple of leagues at Max's, I'd switch to your place but I like the guys my teams consists of. Some nights with the juke box blaring, I just want to forfeit the rest of my matches and walk out. Even when the music is what I like it is too loud and just causes distraction from the task at hand, which should be playing pool.

BTW, if I hit the lottery, I'll buy those tables and open a place to replace Renaissance. :-) I'd have to win enough to afford the monthly loss. :-(

Well if you call 15 pool tables Half a pool hall then I guess most rooms around the country are just 1/2 Pool halls then.

You should Play on Our In house League Because the League Operators dont play the JukeBox Loud or never at all.

So stop in on wednesday and bring your teem Ester & Brian would Love to Have you join them.

I think you misunderstood me.
I meant moving the band in like you suggested some do, is creating something that is neither a pool room nor a night club and it will fail.

I understand where you are going with the dance space. With a couple of partners, I am looking into opening a venue with a major emphasis on pool were I live in Williamson County Tennessee.

However, if our operation goes forward, it will have these characteristics.

1. Two co-located operations with separate entrances. One would be 21 and up with smoking allowed and "next door" would be any age and no smoking. The units would share a common wall that would be largely glass but entry could only be accomplished through two separate front doors. Tennessee just passed a law banning smoking except in businesses that are restricted to 21 and up in age. Unless the whole state goes non-smoking for all ages, we are not willing to experiment on this.

2. Both sides would have pool tables but the "pool hall" would have around 24 with an emphasis toward bar boxes since 80% of pool played in American is on bar boxes. Gotta give the people what they want.

3. The side with fewer pool tables will be know for two things.

A. GREAT food...but basic American stuff like super burgers, steaks etc. but no entrees with any French words in them! (-:
B. MUSIC!!!

The idea is that we would want at least 50% of our patrons to care less about pool. Stated another way, we want our potential customer base to be at least twice as large as the "pool player" base...for obvious reasons.

We are not far enough along in planning to be interested in your tables so I wish you good luck in peddling them.

Regards,
Jim
