Does anybody still get up on the table?

25 - 30 years ago I remember when people were gambling they would think nothing of getting right up on the table to make a shot, I mean butt cheeks flat on the table. I never see that anymore. I think I heard Buddy H. in one of his commentary jokingly mention they used to say “keep one foot in the pool room”. Does anyone still see that today?

nope i haven't in awhile, peopel here in the leagues bring there own bridge with them so noone has to get on the table.

I've had the "butt cheeks" on the table:eek: but thats another story, and best left at home:p and I'm absolutely sure in most rooms that would be against more then just pool rules:D

But seriously I've seen people not keep both feet on the floor, but I go by the rules at least one foot on the floor. I have even pointed it out if someone doesn't keep one foot on the floor.

John Drew Hager used to get on the table so often that eventually, before certain people gambled with him, they would say, "I'll play you but you can't get on the table." John Drew is such a great player.

I've done the one cheek thing with one foot still touching the floor but never both cheeks with feet dangling...lol. Then again, one of my cheeks is equal to two or three of your average guy's.

> The Rack in Memphis used to allow it. I've seen players crawl way up in the middle of the table on their knees so they could jack up and bunt a ball when stuck to the stack playing one-pocket. Believe me,I know it comes in handy, but to sprawling out on it like some people do belongs in a cornfield. The only place on the planet I'd ever consider it is the nursing home/half way house for wayward nits that calls itself a pool room here in town. The only reason I do it there is so I don't have to hear all the crap about me taking "poo" too serious and actually using the bridge. As backwards as that sounds, people in this place will mutter and snicker behind my back because I DIDN'T crawl up on it. I'd gladly swap a lung for a decent place to play. Tommy D.

It's unfair! I say anyone under 5'4" should be able to climb up on the table! :D

My friend Katie would agree with you on that one. The other night in league she just felt like something was wrong, she was playing okay but felt uncomfortable. Suddenly she says "I'm too short!" when she realized she had low heels on. :D
