Does my cue have a weight bolt in it, and how can I add weight it it?

Can anyone tell me if my Predator cue has a weight bolt in it, and where do I go to buy a weight bolt for it, and how do I install the weight bolt?

Sorry if these questions are stupid, so please take it easy on me.

I added a picture of the bolt that is under the rubber bumper.

Is that a weight bolt?

The butt of my cue only weighs 14.4 oz as it is now.

Would like to add around 1 oz to it.

Yes it is a weight bolt.

You need an Allen wrench to get it out.


To add weight, you just need a longer one.
 
Bring it to Bryan Roberts Rack66, 5004 Preston Hwy. He will hook you right up.
 
I don't think that Predator glues their bolts in as they sell weight kits.

If you don't have weight to add, easier to take it to a repairman and let him weigh the cue and bolt and add for you until you get it to where you like it.
 
Wow, I just registered today and am already having a hard time telling what is sarcasm and what isn't. Is this a serious topic? I need to get a primer for what is going on around here.

You could add a set screw or two with the same threads of course under the main bolt if room allows. I think each one weighed a third of an ounce or so.

You can easily do this yourself, and furthermore I think you should. :D

You need a digital scale. Get one at Walmart for about twenty bucks. The longer you play pool the more you will use this scale.

Great for diets too, but I regress...

Now all you need is an Allen wrench. I would also recommend a can of spray lube, you can lightly coat the new bolt before inserting to make it turn nice and easy.

Now weigh your butt without a bolt. Add this weight to the weight of available bolts from Pool Dawg, Seyberts, Muller ect.

Your bolt cost about 4 bucks apiece for any given weight.

Thank you for clearing that up :-).

Well then I second what "LuckedOut" stated, use set screws. You can buy these things readily from 1/8in to 6in long, with any thread you want or out of any material. The bonus is that they come headless. This allows you to turn past any stop gap that may be in the cue, giving more flexibility to balancing. Of course, you want to measure the bolt chamber first so you do not overturn and split the butt.

You can easily weigh your cue down with an error of 0.5 grams with set screws, easily. Even if you're not a weight weenie or balance freak, they are easily accessible and can be bought very cheaply. If you have a problem achieving a desired weight, grind it down then run a nut over the thread to even the thread. Lastly, you'll need a 9" T-Handle hex key for whatever drive you choose.

You mean you cant just unscrew the bolt, throw some screws and nuts in the hole and then put the weight bolt back in? :grin:

No. I prefer to cut open a shot gun shell, pour in the lead shot, stuff a wad of Kleenex in and call it a day. Hahaha.

The cue makes a nice rattle sound when it hits balls.

And if you think that lead shot hasn't been used in this manner before, think again.
