Does Your Opinion Count?

What I've discovered in my years posting on AZ is that my opinion counts a lot to those who agree with me and not so much to those who disagree. Can someone please explain that to me?

Why should that bother you when 99% of us agree with you.

I didn't read any of the previous posts but I wanted to jump in here and say yes opinions matter.

(in case the irony isn't obvious, the above was a total joke; yes, i read it all).

AZB has returned cues, prompted payments, and made and broken reputations for people, players, promoters, tournaments and salespeople. It's introduced people who would not normally have met, shared ideas, and shared viewpoints and perspectives. It matters.

heh heh: Especially because it's the one place where a bunch of people can say whatever they bloody well want and not get into too much trouble for it- sort of like the Enquirer being able to nail a real story on the head every once in a while. : )

And I've also learned that when azb is dead silent, there's usually a reason.

Easy example: remember when that eurpoean guy posted a new thread asking for help in planning a trip to the phillipines and absolutely no one responded? He just happened to post his question the very week the thread about the shooting of a famous cuemaker in the Philippines. That thread had been temporarily deleted, so the poor fellow couldn't have known, but no one jumped up and told the guy anything. That conspicuous silence should have told him a lot... but maybe it was too subtle.

I think everyone like to have a post that gets good rep, is quoted in appreciation, etc. I think if you post something that you feel the need to say, you did no wrong. There is a line of discretion to be used of course just out of common curtesy. Any comments made with sanity still in tact will always be read and appreciated by me when possible.

as far as the guys on az voting anyone into a hall of fame i doubt it

In my opinion, enough voice on AZBilliards can influence Hall of Fame voting. There are something over 5 regular readers of AZBilliards that are on the committee (or at large )to vote in on the BCA HoF. Probably more who lurk. Since there are only something like 30 members on the voting membership, that's a significant number that are AZBilliards.Com members.

Fred <~~~ IMO
