Doing Deals via Internet

I know this isn't pool related, but I wanted opinions from anyone that had one. If buying something from the internet, like the for sale section here in this forum. What is the best way to insure both parties recieve what they agreed on.

if u are buying, gather as much knowledge about the seller as u DISCRETELY can(deals on here, ebay feedback, phone #/address, google their usernames see if they are on other forums, see if they have a myspace page etc., u cannot be too cautious in dealing over the internet), if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is, i'd also say make the transaction public similar to how guys handled bets they made on here with the shane/corey match, and also in the 4 sale thread have the seller put that there will or won't be a return clause if you're not satisfied, u may also want to reply to that thread so they can't edit it, i've done a lot of deals online and 90% of the risk belongs to the buyer not the seller

Everything else is a crap shoot. If your not confident then don't do it , it's that simple.

I have had very few problems except for some warped cues on eBay that I returned and it cost me a little freight. Most AZB guys are pretty good to deal with. The members of this forum understand the importance of trading with integrity. Communication is the key to successful AZB deals.

If the item is on eBay I always click the "ask seller a question" just to see the response through eBay, whether I need to know the answer or not

On AZB I've learned to look back to previous posts and see if the guy has had unnecessary problems, arguments, and even "bully" like behavior

One cue I ordered on eBay was so warped it didn't even roll, when I emailed the guy and asked him how he could ship a cue like that, he responded "you can't blame a guy for trying". He refunded everything including the shipping and I left positive feedback

A better idea since many know each other in the for sale section is to put up a post in that forum and ask for opinions on dealing with the person your going to deal with. In other words ask in the created thread if anyone will vouch for them and who has had good transactions with that person. We also have feedback in the itrader now you can view as well as the transaction sticky.

NO, I haven't bought a cue yet. I am going to a tournament in Houston at the beginning of the month and will wait to see what those dealers have.

Another thing that will help is the new i-Trader ranking that Mike recently added to this site. This helps someone identify reputable traders....something that on the surface may seem hard to do for someone who's new to this site.

If you deal with a good, reputable seller, that's the secret because you have automatically reduced your risk....because the good sellers will go the extra mile to try to ensure their buyers are happy and satisfied.

I buy alot from the internet, first thing you should really care about, is the sellers profile. and if he has a huge name that he care about. then there will be no problem. If he has the name ; therfore you can trust him.
