I was thinking this also, if you were used to a Le Pro or something similar and went to a Moori or Triangle you might miss a lot of balls , especially if like you said, you cheat angles and throw the ball in with English.
I played with Le Pros most of my life , went to Triangle had the same problems you did then I tried an Everest . at first I had trouble with it , but now I find I can do more with the cueball for whatever reason, especially long draw shots.
There are a hundred ways to play this game and everyone has to figure out what works for them . Seems it's coming back if you won a tournament, even the easy ones aren't easy anymore.
