I think everyone respects what he does but that does not give hime the right to be a total A##.

Hay looser,
You are a looser. Thank you for showing the board your integrity and opion of yourself.
As I said Don is an honest man. His reputation is earned as yours is.
You have no class. Be proud of the fact you showed everyone yourself with pride I imagine your fine character.
Private to you means nothing. You have embarassed yourself publicly and are too egotistical to have a clue.

Sorry, just want to educate you real quick "MR. NICK".

1. Opinion - a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty.EX: "MR" Nick has an extremely high opinion of himself, regardless of his 4th grade reading level.

2. loser - a person who has failed at a particular activity. EX: If "MR" Nick entered a spelling contest, he would end up a loser. (Looser could be an adjective or verb, but I'm pretty sure that isn't what you intended to use).

3. You don't end sentences with a preposition. EX: His reputation is earned as yours is. (", as is yours" would have been accurate)

Mark, 8 Ball Rat, or as I lovingly call him - Rackboy, is my brother in arms, and has done more for this country and other people in general than you ever have. He does an extremely tough, but necessary job with a great amount of pride and dignity. In his very limited free time he likes to buy a cue here and there...but he has more love and appreciation for cues and the artistry of cuemaking than you ever will. He does it because he loves cues. I mean, he just LOVES cues. He's as honest as they come and I'm proud to call him my friend (as many people on this forum are). We were stationed together, and have played pool together on many occassions over the last few years, and he's always provided me an ear to bend when I've really needed it. So your attempts (however meager) at insulting Mark aren't going to fly with me.

Please leave this thread and go start yet another thread showing off the two Tim Scruggs and one Mike Cochran cue you own.....while acting like a big shot. Ok, "MR" Nick?

this is my nomination for post of the year.:grin-square:

I'm a former cue dealer and used to deal with Don at tournaments and shows.

He's an honest cue dealer. That's why he's been in business for so long. I know what the OP is feeling but sometimes it's better to think about things before jumping the gun. I think you probably should have just sent the cue to Barry and bitten the bullet since you were the one that missed the finish on the butt cap during the purchase process.

I think Don has been unfairly abused in this thread. My 2 cents.

I believe the word you're looking for is LOSER.

Older people like looser fitting clothes. Some men prefer women with looser morals. Some people may consider these men losers, however that's not for me to judge.

I know I haven't been appointed as the spelling cop, but hey, take it as a free lesson and not criticism.

By the way, most browsers will red underline a word if it's spelled wrong. You didn't get it because you spelled the wrong word right.

You're (not your) welcome

I finally read this whole thread, start to finish, yesterday. While standing by one's friends and associates is admirable, I am not sure you've clearly read the full story-- there are two, maybe three major problems with the four sentences you posted.

May this finally be resolved quickly and fairly, and may the two parties involved both come out smarter/ better men for it.

Don't you think that is just a little overboard on the buyer beware?

Don said it was refinished by Barry, turns out it wasn't. How can that be the buyer's responsibility and not Don's? Isn't Don at all responsible for what he says in the sales process?

And as far as Chis missing the refinish, so did Barry who looked at the cue.
Don's honest. Its an honest mistake, but it is a mistake, and a seller is responsible to delivering an item as he says it is, or making it that way, or fully unwinding the deal.

I agree that Don has been unfairly abused in this process. Lots of people that don't know him and some that have never bought a piece of chalk, jumping on his case, making assumptions and talking about the man's character. However, he does owe Chris what he told Chris Chris was buying.

Thanks

Kevin

I disagree. If the cue was sold as a Gus that was refinished by Barry and it wasn't, then it is up to Don to unwind the deal or have the cue refinished by Barry out of his pocket.

It is a great post, but I hate when the military card gets played. I know that only 1 in 300 serve. It's a choice we make. I get the brother in arms part after having served for 21 years. I also feel that way about certain non-military friends.

Setting the military service aside, it still is blatantly obvious who the loser is.

And here is a proper example of ending sentences with prepositions:
Student to a passerby: Where's the library at?
Passerby, who is a prof: Young man, you should not end your sentence with a preposition.
Student: OK. Where is the library at, you dick?

One last thing. I suggest that an experienced bartender is the best bet for translating certain posts.

I haven't seen any proof that the cue wasn't refinished by Barry at some point during its lifetime. I did only read the first 8 pages of this thread so I guess maybe I missed something. What I did read sounded like whining mixed with an extra helping of seller's remorse. Again just my humble opinion.

Maybe I'm just playing devil's advocate. Or maybe I just don't like seeing people that I know getting dragged through the mud in public forums.

Thanks.

What's humble about your opinion?

Regardless, I've read the whole thread. I don't know either party.

I realize that Don hasn't shared his version of the events and has a stellar rep. That being said, it doesn't appear to be buyer's remorse. I think Chris has a legit beef with Don. I also believe Don will take care of him. Had he done so sooner, we wouldn't be discussing this.

Again, I don't believe Chris is whining or feeling buyer's remorse.

You are right, why bother seeing what info is available before rendering your opinion? Read what's comfy and hold forth.

By that "logic" Don could have represented the cue as original Gus finish because Gus for sure finished the cue at some point during its lifetime. Fact is however, Don wouldn't do either little word game hustle and I doubt that he'd see much validity to your "defense". I sure don't. Don made an honest mistake and owes Chris making it right.

Whether Don deserved getting roasted here is another issue altogether, but even if he doesn't why should Chris pay the price for Don's mistake ?

Everyone needs to just shut up.....stop this crap now!

I've posted on the thread and made my views plainly clear......I've corresponded with CMD by PM on the Forum after his post saying he was speaking with "Sureman" right now and seeing if they could work this out.

THIS IS CMD'S PROBLEM....NOT YOURS OR MINE......HE'S THE ONLY ONE WHO SHOULD BE POSTING AT THIS TIME....NOT YOU OR ME......IF THE PROBLEM DOESN'T GET RESOLVED, THEN WE START POUNDING "SUREMAN" ALL OVER AGAIN EVEN HARDER UNTIL HE LEAVES THE FORUM.......but......there's always a but....or butt.........

Stop this nonsense right now.....everyone seems to be basically writing posts for their own emotional satisfaction or ego-oriented reasons........Quit it once and for all.....The Forum is becoming like a group of hunters all looking to shoot something....anything.....on Opening Day of the Hunting Season. Doesn't matter what might wander in front of the muzzle on your rifle....just blast the darn thing.......The Forum has become almost a blood thirsty environment.

Look, all of us that have posted have taken sides.....rightly or wrongly.....doesn't matter at this moment.....Why? Because CMD & Sureman are trying to resolve this problem and are discussing different options. Have any of you that have posted bothered to send a PM in the last 72 hrs to CMD about this problem or are you all just reacting to other posts you've read which have gotten your aroused?

CMD does not want this thread to continue receiving your opinionated posts....just bump this thread if you want but no more views and opinions are needed or wanted. Nick Serdula writes something which angered folks so now the mob turns and attacks Nick......the next time it will be some other Forum member.......Nick is entitled to his opinion and so is everyone else but let's not lose sight of what this was about....helping CMD resolve a problem.

This thread on the Forum has created an angry mob and anyone is susceptible to being attacked if they write something others disagree with. I'm not here to defend Nick....he doesn't need it and he's a nice guy too.....although I've had my spats and differences with him, he's a sincere, honest person. I don't like what Nick wrote about 8ball-Rat but he's entitled to his opinion. But what I like even less is the way people condemn and attack someone on a personal basis......Fuc_, why not pick on a guy because of his last name......he might be another Muslim Brotherhood collaborator.......Come on everyone, stop this juvenile attitude and gang style behavior......so maybe I post something next time and maybe everyone attacks me???

If the people that have posted on this thread have any shred of integrity remaining, they'll just shut up and stand down.......that goes for me too, Nick Serdula, 8-ball Rat, Tro, and EVERYONE ELSE.....JUST SHUT UP....Let CMD and Sureman have a chance to make this turn out okay for both of them......Didn't you read CMD's post asking not to post any more?????????? So stop all this nonsense and cease & discontinue all the high school tweet-like messages and allow things run its course for the time being.

CMD will let the dogs out again if it's needed.....hopefully not but we'll have to wait and see........And please, no more personal attacks of other forum members.....if you have that impulse, send them a PM but keep it off the Forum board for others to see.........Let's just try to be a liitle more nice.......it's not that difficult.......if anyone has a right to be upset and angry, it's CMD but certainly not any of you or me...........NO BODY CARES WHAT YOU THINK OR HAVE TO SAY AT THIS POINT IN TIME ON THIS MATTER.......Just let the two people that own the problem try resolving it one last time.

If this continues, the Forum Moderators....if they have any balls at all.....will bury this thread because it's become a cancer that's feeding off negative energy.......Doesn't anyone else out there have cues they want to sell or buy............ENUF ALREADY.........As as my handle reads....and if any of you understand Italian.......this is how I feel about this topic and if you disgaree with me.....then I say to you with the utmost sincerity............"Bavafongoul!".

Again, I don't believe Chris is whining or feeling buyer's remorse.

I understand.

But that was my impression based on my reading this and having owned dozens of Szamboti's and knowing Barry fairly well. I don't think Gus or Barry would approve of this "airing of dirty laundry" and maybe (just maybe) the OP shouldn't have a Szamboti anyway if this is how he is going to react to problems.

Gus would have said, "the finish won't make that cue play any better, now go hit some balls kid....".

For the record, Mark aka 8ballrat is a true American hero.
Mark is one of the guys that goes in and makes it safer for the other troops.
Kind of like a soldiers soldier.
It doesn't get any better than that, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him in a top position some day.
In that my father was badly wounded in Europe during WWII, I get real emotional when talking about American soldiers like 8ballrat.
