To whom it may concern:
This cue is one of 12 cues that the McDermott Co had munufactured for my father and I.
Neither my father nor I have ever built this style cue.
I have always done all of the programming for all of our cues, except a few that Mike Long designed.
A few other cues were designed by other people, but I did the final cad and programming. So I know for a fact where this cue was built. And I can prove it.

Plus, if my father or I were to ever build a cue like this, it would be real ebony and ivory and it would cost well over $2,000.00.

This is not true. I have a couple of Donald's cues. All of them have the red dot and are signed. I also have some of Leonards cues. They all have the red dot. Only one of those is signed however.

I own the RED DOT. Bludworth Custom Cue Co is my company. Off and on throughout the years, my dad and I have agreed to work together, and I have allowed him to occasionally use my RED DOT. I bought Bludworth Custom Cues from my dad in 1996, which included the RED DOT. My dad's company is Bludworth Originals, and his logo is the letter B with a circle around it.
As far as thinking that my dad's cues are of a higher quality than mine, let me just say this: I myself, Mike Long, or Samuel Escobar have built all Bludworth cues since the early 90's (with the exception of the Bludworth cues built by McDermott).
I am not trying to get in a pissing contest with anyone, but after 20 odd years of reading disinformation about mine/and or my dad's companies, I would just like the truth of it all to be known.

So basically this is not a "Bludworth" cue, it is a McDermott cue with the Bludworth RED DOT on it ??

Personally, I think it's great that you've joined the forum, welcome to the forum.

All the information I have offered on this cue was told to me directly from McDermott. I have no reason to misrepresent the maker of this cue. I will forward the email, to anyone interested, that I received from McDermott verifying their contract was with Leonard until problems started. The McDermott made cues do not have the red dot, do not have their unique pin or the Bludworth bumper
this one has. The president of McDermott at the time gave me the cue said it was one of Leonard's prototypes that never was put in to production due to a falling out. I remain convinced because of the components of the cue it is a Bludworth. Would like to hear from Leonard, on this one. At any rate the cue is a fine player and at the very least someone will be getting a controversial one of a kind piece.
 
The McDermott company built and sold quite a few McDermott/Bludworth cues.
After the falling out with my father and them , my father gave me what stock he had left.
I sold most of them when I lived in Tn.
They were great cues , built to my fathers specs.
Very rare and keepers for sure.
I'm not trying to knock a sale, quite the contrary.
 
Question!

Did the McDermott models you sold have your pin, the red dot and your bumper on them? Just wondering, because when I was given this cue I was told it was a sample sent to McDermott by Bludworth. They also mentioned that due to the falling out, Bludworth may not claim it as their own. Thought about removing the bumper to show the difference between a Bludworth and McDermott cue. That would maybe solve the mystery. Like you say the cue is a fine work and it is priced right to sell.
 
Whatever happened with this cue? Perhaps Samuel Escobar (mentioned earlier by Donald) could identify the cue and its origin? Sam just started building cues again in NC from what I hear... Rodcar, maybe you could find out what the deal was by getting ahold of him...?
