Were the past how many years not an embarrassment? Potential? Man you are playing it safe!
 
I know people are going to disagree with me because they are die hard Earl fans, but my opinion is he is one of the biggest disgrace to professional sports of any kind. Earl doesnt play near as well as he did many years ago, and he should be the poster boy for cry babys and poor sportsmanship. Therefore I dont think Earl should even be considered for the Mosconi Cup unless he wins the next 5 pro events. JMHO
 
Hey ya'll, with all due respect, this is a DONNY MILLS FOR MOSCONI CUP thread. And if you hadn't heard already, Earl is not on the voting list.

I think Donny would be a great choice. But why him over the other 7? That's what we need to discuss!

One reason Donny gets a serous leg up is because the MCup is break from the box, and last year the US got the worse end of the breaking success.

Well there you go right there-just as a "racking consultant" he can add effectiveness to ALL his teammates and IMHO we need all the help we can get this year. In fact we need help for the forseeable future!

Granted I have to give kudos to Earl for his game and accomplishments. The guy is a legend hands down. However, regardless of how great of a player he may be now or may have been previously, I hope to God that he's not going to be on camera representing America at Mosconi unless someone volunteers to send the guy to a serious general etiquette/social skills boot camp before the cup involving no fewer than two tasers and a good size bucket of delayed release psychotropic cocktails.

As for Donny... How many of the other guys up for the last Mosconi spot do you think can emulate a near-perfect break 95 out of 100 times? I'm not an expert in any sense of the word, just saying Donny should get some brownie points for his ridiculously consistent break. And I hate to state the obvious here, but there's just not another American that can break like that and still look spiffy in a pink bunny suit ;)
 
I gotta wait for the list but the fact is if Donny woulda beat the two Euros in races to 11 he would have gotten an auto spot on the team right? So top finishing American in the US Open means nothing in America, that's bogus isn't it?

I need to see the list we will be voting on. Earl is a hero, but if you don't vote for Earl you absolutely should be voting for Donny. Hill-Hill races to 11 with the top 2 on earth, not bad. What do you think would happen if Donny got to play shorter races alternating the break like Mosconi Cup's format? Got news for you Donny wins a vast vast majority of games on his break. He'd be an absolute beast in this type of format, maybe even the best on the team...the other game formats are the only place where he is questionable because we haven't seen it. He's so offensive but the team so far has people who are more conservative than him.

Vote Donny if not Earl if not keep your vote in your pocket.

EARL IS NOT ON THE LIST*. (sorry for yelling, but some people have missed that, even though it's in multiple posts in multiple threads.)

This is considered gospel by me, as it's been reported here - as a minimum - by Shawn Putnam, who is on the list and has been privy to the list. And by Roy Steffensen who has spoken with a Matchroom official.

I REALLY hope we discuss the break when we discuss the best 5th man for our team. We had BIG trouble with that cut break from the box last year, while having to get 3 past the head string and/or in the hole. Wasn't the one ball up from the foot spot as well?
 
It may not be the most popular vote, but basing it on his last two performances at the US Open (9th last year and 3rd this year), Donny definitely deserves the chance to represent the US. Not to mention that he would do it with honor, and show no disrespect to the European's or the game of pool.
 
Donnie Mills all the way. His play is currently the best in the US, his break skills help to fill in a team weakness and he's hungry. He'll be a great team member.
