a uSED GC IS THE WAY TO GO.kEEP AN EYE IN THE PAPER THEY WILL POP UP..yOU CAN GET A GOOD ONE BETWEEN 2500-3500...jUST KEEP LOOKING.

Or even $1700 right here.

The GC 3's are not comparable to the 4's............there is a reason you can get a 3 for 2000.

Hold out and keep looking for a 4 if you want a better table. The 3's had a few problems. I know where there is a GC 4 for around 4 grand.....nice condition.

PTM,

I was kind of hoping you were going to weigh in on the debate between the different brands of tables, e.g., GCIV vs Diamond vs Gabriel vs GC 1s and 2s. Which do you think are the better tables? Sounds like you're endorsing the GCIV?

A pool table mechanics view on a pool table could be much different than a players view.

How they go together and with what ease is very different than how they play.

I would prefer to play on a Gold Crown or a Diamond, but a lot of it matters on the humidity in the air on how a table will play. If you get to play on newer felt all the time, that makes a difference, too. If the felt is worn out and wet, that will affect the balls and make it harder to adjust.

Actually, I like the old Anniversary Gold Crowns. They don't have them anymore. That's what I would really prefer to play on.

It seems like the phonier the table, the better I play. I don't mean that the table is bad. It's just harder for other people to adjust to that equipment, balls skidding, et cetera.

Contact the table mechanics that service your area. When I was looking for a snooker table, I found two used ones that were sitting unadvertised in two different table mechs storage areas. I'm sure they get deals that are too good to pass up all the time. I would guess there are some with warehouses full of used tables scattered around the country.

I've been trying to decide on which Brunswick model to buy (Metro or Centurion). Today I took a trip to the nearest Brunswick dealer to ask some questions and look at a Metro they had on the showroom floor. Unfortunately for me they also had a GC IV on the floor. I say unfortunately because the Metro looks like a toy compared to the GC IV, now the only table I want is a GC, and the GC IV has a retail of $8,499.

Oh well, now I know why everyone is always talking about the Gold Crowns.

By the way, anyone ever seen an AMF Grand Prix. Supposedly it looks a lot like a Gold Crown, but it can be purchased for about $2,500 less.[/QUOTE

I don't even sell the poly finish gold crown for that much. We Typically sell GC4,s for about 5995.00 there good tables but you would definately be better off finding a GCIII somewhere
