Down to three cues: My new Hercek, new Schick and the ole reliable Gina

Needless to say, I have been doing a lot of swappin' around. (enjoyed every minute of it)

My goal, as of late, is to put back one special cue from the five cue makers I call my personal legends: Hercek, Gutierrez, Schick, Stroud and Barry S. Well as of today, three down, one in process (Mr. Stroud has a masterpiece in the works) and hopefully a Barry cue sometime in the near future.

Will continue to swap, buy, sell, etc. But, I hope to put one cue from each cuemaker back for my own personal stash.

Special thanks to Troy Oldham @ www.onthehill.net for the great deal on the Hercek cue and to Bill Grassley @ www.cornerstonecustomcues.com for always treating me so well and the deal on the Schick cue.

Also, thanks to Mark Raymond (8ballrat) for helping out by closing the deal Blackboar early. (That really helped things along)

wow super nice 3 pack, can't wait to see the other two you plan to add.

Kevin,
Thanks for the compliments. The Josswest cue, hopefully, will be done in 3-4 months or least in time to be displayed at Mr. Stroud's next ICCS show in Houston mid October. As for the Barry cue, I might have to copy Mark aka 8ballrat and sell one or more vital organs. :D :D :D

Very much agree. When you said you were getting the Hercek from Troy, I went to his site to take a look.

Then went back 4 more times, just to stare at it. You got a winner there, Jimmy!!

Seeing some of these collections really opens my eyes to where I sit on the cue collectors totem pole. Somewhere between the worms and the lava. LOL. Great looking cues Jimmy.

All I can say is it takes a long time. Unless you're loaded. In my case it has taken years to find out what I really like and doing a lot of buying, selling, etc. to attain a few cues of this caliber.

Good luck, Jim ;)

Just when you think you have found the cues you want, something else will come available that puts a new sparkle in your eye.
I am having some huge flare ups looking at your beauties.

TNX for the show,
Myron

Thanks

One thing I always do with cues is examine them very closely (ask Mark - brought my stereo specs with 3X to the pool hall to look at his titlist BB when he got it). I have even brought cues to work to examine them under a microscope to see the detail of the joints, points and inlays. With that said, each of the cuemakers you listed are high on my list of cue makers I am after as well. So your pictures and short note just reminded me that it does take time and it takes considerably more time to find the cues that also match your playing style.

Good luck in the search for the next gem as I search for a new set of sunglasses in anticipation of the new sparkles that are going to be flying in front of my eyes.

cue collection

Beautiful cues, my personal favorite is the Schick. Good luck in acquiring the cues for completing your collection

Jim,

If I can make a suggestion, I would consider a fancy Tad for your list. They are still obtainable and it would go well with your collection. They are also sure to be a long term winner.

Chris, you are exactly right. A Tad would probably be the next cue in line for me. The only thing about Tad cues I am not crazy about is that they all look so similar. None the less, he is a another legendary cue maker.

Thanks, Jim

Great collection Jimmy.

I too am working on a five cue collection of different makers. Although I'm not completely set on who my five are yet, I have acquired my first two being Gina and Haley and I have a couple custom-orders from James White & Showman coming down the line. My potential "A" listers include Black Boar, Hercek and of course anything Szamboti.

I've only begun collecting about two years ago but I'm already hooked.
