someone told me that you can actually address the cueball lower with non-layered tips, and truth to this?
 
Yes it's true. I have a dozen "non-layered" tips for sale. Quick send me a check before ther'e gone....SPF=randyg

IMO, all that matters is whether or not a tip holds chalk well or not. Some tips do this better than others, depending on how the tip is maintained.

A common knock against layered tips is that sometimes the glue line will end up places not ideal. On better quality tips it's not usually an issue but on some lesser quality tips you can definately see the glue line where it doesnt hold the chalk as well.
