DRESS CODES - in general

Watching the Jim Rempe 14.1 HOF cerimony and dinnet on AZB TV. Almost all the players have either vests or suits on or at least dress shirts. Justin is wearing a hoodie...WTF... Another classy candidate for the Mosconi Cup Team!

I was there tonight. Some of the players dressed nice, others were wearing a cheap vest... At least a HOF dinner is appropriate to dress nice, not like they were playing pool or anything.

Btw, jim was wearing a bugs bunny tie. #thisgameisdoomed

In my country, cue sport events require you to be dressed with a vest and bowtie.

Why would you advicate reducing the formality of the sport? I thought you Americans were trying to get away from the whole 'gamblers in a dark smokey room' thing, and head more towards to a professional setting like golf like you keep mentioning. This would bring in more sponsership and more players wouldn't it? But wait, you are more comfortable playing in your basketball shorts with a fag in one hand, and a drink in the other right? And isn't that more important?

It's about the quality of the event as a whole, and having everyone well dressed seems to provide more to the atmosphere, and manner of the event. (In my personal experience anyway)

Also, a $10 red vest from wall-mart will make anyone look like a valet.
Why don't you stop being a fashionless loser, and spend $40 on a fitted vest that matches your pants?
Dressing up doesn't mean dressing like a servent.

Dear Borat,
In my country if you're goin to dinner, a wedding, funeral... You dress up. If you're playing a sport, you don't wear a vest or bow tie. You would be considered a fashion-less loser here. But I'm sure you're a great guy.

All the best.

Are you implying that anybody who notes the similarities between "smart" pool attire and waiter/parking valet uniforms has half a brain? Because, come on, they are pretty similar.

I actually don't mind the idea of waistcoat and bow ties for high profile 14.1 events, as it's kind of a nice nod to the game's heritage. But for rotation/8 ball/one-pocket events, I think a golf style dress code is a lot more fitting. It looks smart, it's instantly more appealing (especially to a younger audience) and it adds a bit of character to the game.

Smart attire suits snooker, it doesn't suit pool (especially as the "smart" attire worn by a lot of players either looks cheap or just downright unfashionable).

Half seems about right.

lol. We used to have to wear vests just like that when I worked at Target years ago. Not real great for stocking shelves in or playing pool for that matter.

lol makes just as much sense playing pool in a vest as it does working at target in a vest.
