I am looking for some new drills to help me raise my level of play. I only get to shoot about 6-8 hours a week right now, and I am looking for a few drills to implement into my routine. Any recommendations are welcome! I am a pretty skilled player, so advanced drills would be a huge plus. Thanks!

Efren drill

Saw him do this at the Derby in '07: scatter (4) 2-ball clusters around the table. Start with ball-in-hand on the 1ball, pocket it and open a cluster. Shoot the 2, open a cluster, etc. Try to run all nine this way. GREAT drill. BTW, Efren ran three racks while i sat having my coffee. I've done it but not in rotation.

darren appletons perfect practice has good drills on it
he shows how to do the drill if you are a pro and an easier way if you are an amateur

I just got this DVD and it's very good.
He talks too much but the drills are excellent.

Some great drills that systematically get increase in difficulty along with your skill level, gives you motivation to improve by keeping score and keeping you engaged with all around skill shots. Great to use with a coach or on your own, you can't go wrong really doing any drills but here is a complete set including DVD's that will help you with your game.

As mentioned earlier there are several books and dvds available on the subject. I would also like to suggest that you look on youtube as there are several videos on there with practice drills for all sorts of cue control. searching videos on cue control or playing position pool should yeild you thousands of videos to choose from. Here is a link to one that comes highly recommended

If you have an ecumenical attitude to cue sports ... :D

I wanted to compile in my lifetime a body of knowledge about the game that I could leave behind for young enthusiasts, amateurs and top players.

I have shifted some of my efforts to YouTube as it does attract the younger crowd because they are online now more than ever. I want to leave a trail of information behind me. If I was 12 again, that information would save me all the heartbreak and cue-biting frustration.”
