if anyone uses a pro-formax drum sander for inlay sanding or wood sanding
there is a weak spot in the sander it is the adustment crank for the height adj. the threaded rod on the crank runs thru a aluiminum block threaded section in the head of the sander this will wear out and become hard to adjust. the fix which we did is made a new threaded rod and did a thread in a threaded bronze bushing in the body using thread locker green stuff see attached photo it works better then ever keep the rod greased very well it will ....lee

So .... are you offering a repair kit for that problem or just pointing it out?
I use one and so far have not had a problem with that part of it ... yet.
Course I dont do full on production so it may not get used as much as you use yours.

What I doo have a problem with is keeping the bely centered.
It tends to run off the rollers toward the motor end no matter how I adjust it. I think the sanding drum is applying force in that direction.

We have a pro-formax drum sander and it is doing exactly what you mention. This must be a common issue with this drum sander.

I haven't bothered to resolve the issue with it yet. I may be bugging you in a week or so...

I have one but rarely use it, so not like to wear it out very soon. I bought it hoping it would sand leather easily but it does not seem to do that very well so I am still searching for a used large electric splitter. I appreciate you showing the fix for it.

thanks Chris sander back together and running better then ever one other thing when done using the sander blow out the drum at both ends dust builds up there and causes vibration in the drum if keep clean it runs smooth as silk no need to use anything but this to true up your point wood
first take your point stock and make sure its fairly close then run in wood through the sander turning it each time you take a pass remember dint take to big a cut this works as good as anything i have ever used after i ran the wood through i checked it with machinist square and prefect
