Getting Accustomed to a cue

OK this isnt to bash any cue maker. We all have cues that we like the hit of and I'll be honest I havent had a cue from anyone I have gotten a cue from that had a bad hit. I do have a Fisher that has a stiffer hit than I can get accustomed to, I am going to change the tip and see if that does it. The cue though has no faults and it is the best braking cue I have had, and a friend loves it, I just cant get accustomed to it. I also had a Southwest that I never became accustomed to. I will stress again the cues were/are first rate build and fit and they are not flawed I just can not grow atatched.

Also I apoligize I should of titled this differently. I like this Fisher, it is flawless in build, it is attractive, feels and balences great, as I said I will change the tip when I get to the US and away from Iraq and I have a strong feeling it will be fine. The tip is my fault as Fisher installed the tip I requested.

uhm.. i'm a little unclear as to the purpose of this post. Was there a point or question you had regarding whether or not any of us have received cues that we considered duds?:confused:

You are correct it is NOT the CUE, it is me. I tried to exsplain that I know that, it is just a stiffer hit than I like. Fisher makes a DAMN GOOD cue, I am not knocking the cue, the maker the workmanship, he is a STAND UP GUY and as I said my buddy LOVES IT!!! I would not hesitate to buy another cue from FISHER. I might spec it different but the cue is not at fault.

Guess the purpose was to find out if any one of you received cues that you want to love but couldnt adjust to.

I agree the title was not appropriate. I tried to change it ealier but couldnt figure it out but I finally did.

Thank you

You talkin' to ME?

Talk to Fisher. He can probably adjust it. Don't ask us ,"Experts." But if you can't work it out, can I have it?

I am sure Fisher can and will adjust the taper etc to make it less stiff. I will do so when I get stateside.

With any cue it take months before it feels like an extension of your arm. I play with a Skip Weston and while it was being re-wrapped shot with a great sub ,totally different hit and feel. Given time I would have done well with it. It is the awareness of the attention to details until you are no longer aware. Now we are Zen.

I'll tell you what I would do....If your friend likes it I would sell it to him and order another Fisher and let him know you want a softer hit....He may also be able to adjust the tip and taper to the cue you already have....

I know what you mean. It's no big deal & isn't a bash on the builders. Some cues simply do not fit the person playing with them. If the shoe fits, wear it. If not, don't.

dud? maybe

i have had three cues by same maker. one was a great hitting cues, one was fine, and this other little piggy went wee, wee, wee all the way gone. the best hitter was a full splice, 2nd best was a plain jane cocobolo(sold 10 years ago) i think, and the prettiest one of all was an ebony forearmed cue that just simply shot way less well than it could have.
the ebony cue just simply did not have the solid feel when a ball was hit. it shot alright but nothing stellar. the "feel" just was never there. to me that spells dud. i sold the two cues together to two guys at the local room. i told one guy(who had his choice of which cue he wanted) that if he tried both he would take the full splice over the ebony cue-even though he wanted the ebony to start with. i was right and he did choose the full splice cue. the difference was apparent to him as well as to me.

If my buddy could pony up the $600.00 id sell it but his wife might kill one or both of us.
