Dufferin Sneaky Pete Wanted, Please Help!

Does anyone know where I can buy an original Dufferin Sneaky Pete Cue. I'm looking for an older one when they were made in Canada
It should have the brass pin in the shaft and a green or red leaf on the bottom end. preferably a green leaf. It doesn't matter if the shaft is dinged up bad or if the cue has a lot of chips in the finish I'll still be interested.
I'm looking for something in the 17-20 oz. range please PM if you have anything like this or know anyone that would.
Thanks Again, Matt

here's a picture of one. Something like this

i have 3 of these cues, one is my personal cue i am keeping

these cues known as dufferin, "hustler" or "phantom"--sneaky pete cues.

for the money are the best sneaky-pete cues for the money, the best quality parts and for longevity.

both of the cues available are from inventory that was stored when a sporting goods company was sold. dufferin went out of business in 2005 and sold their name to a china company so don't buy anything made after 2005. the shafts are still canadian maple trees, but the quality and manufacturing specifications are not what the original 'dufferin' company demanded back when the family owned the line.

both cues were manufatured in the late 1980's. they were kept in storage for over twenty years.

1 cue is 20oz. is in near mint shape probably played with 20-30 times, has one shaft and i will sell for $120.00 plus shipping. this one has the green maple leaf.

1 cue is 19 oz. is brand new in the plastic and has never been played with. this cue is also old new stock that was stored for over twenty years and is perfect in every way. a one of a kind since you won't find another cue like this since they haven't been made in seven years. this one is the last run that they called the "phantom" line of sneaky petes' from dufferin. this one has the red maple leaf. I will sell this one for $150.00, plus shipping. the prices are high compared to some that you will find, but if you know what you are getting it is still atleast $100.00 less than you can get a new one for in the same quality of components.

let me know, through a pm or call and leave a message @ 727-277-9853, my name is mike. thanks

Question

Are these 'phantoms' an after the fact conversion of one-piece older Dufferins by a cue builder? or were they manufactured as 'sneaky' two piece cues by Dufferin back in the 'pre-company-sale' time period?

Is that a quick release pin of some sort? Any made (by Dufferin) with a 3/8 -10 wood screw?

I am trying to learn what to look for in a good desirable Dufferin two piece sneaky.

Sorry for the minor thread detour.

factory built dufferin---hustler or phantom--sneaky pete

these cues were made from the early 1980's to about 2005-06 when the company went out of business and was sold to a china owned company.

these cues were made from an original hi-run: one piece cue that was premium selected by the inspectors at dufferin manufacturing site. the best one piece cues that had the best overall quality of wood and full-splice appeal were selected to become two-piece "hustler" or later to be called "phantom" cues.

these cues were made with a solid unique wood to wood joint that only dufferin used, using a pin in shaft design and connected to the butt in a wood thread connection.

you can tell the original dufferin hustlers, from the after-market 1 piece cut-down and aftermarket made 2 pieces by the joint and pin designs.

the after-market cues, usually have a pin in butt design and a receiver pin in the shaft, less work and easier to cover up flaws in the cue and joints.

the original phantom and hustler cues sold originally for $60 to $90 US dollars. Now a 100% hustler, 100% condition cue, can collect $100 to $200, US, depending on the generation of dufferin, red maple leaf, green maple leaf, .oz preferences and demand for unit. These cues have not been made for 6 years, so they are becoming fewer and farther inbetween to find old/new stock. T

These cues play awesome and hold up awesome, as long as you don't abusive the cues and break ans seat the joints properly. any questions, please e-mail me at------michaelkennedy_1@yahoo.com-----or pm to this site for a while.

thanks

ebay shows a cut down--added shaft to a possible dufferin butt section

The cue shown appears to have a maple leaf in the butt. be careful about knock-off dufferins. Chinese built maple leafs have an ottawa name with the red maple leaf in the butt. An original Dufferin will have the name Dufferin and the window in the butt with the red or green maple leaf, or it will have the name dufferin burned into the forearm section of the butt. Remember, all original "dufferin" hustler and sneaky pete's, have the pin in the shaft with no metal in the butt section.

remember, no metal pieces in the butt section on the original, dufferin, sneaky petes'----either "phantoms'" or "hustler" models of DUFFERINS' FROM CANADA.

thanks

Not exactly.

FYI - I have about 6 Dufferin sneakys that I bought directly from
Dufferin in 1988.

They all have the pin in the butt - they also have 13mm pro taper shafts
with full 1 inch ferrules and are 58 inches in length... because...they
were made for the lower 48 American market - not the Canadian market.

As for the relative merits of the joint styles - you are welcome to
your opinion, but my opinion is the only advantage to the pin-in-shaft
design is that it is the accepted 'traditional' version in some areas.
Not unlike brass ferrules.
