If you're playing 10 to 6, when you have 5 balls and your opponent has 9 balls your both in the one hole meaning you both need 1 ball to win. This also means that 14 balls
have already been made so far and there is 1 ball left on the table. Who ever makes that ball in their pocket wins the game.
If the spot for a One-Pocket game adds up to 17 or more, as in your opponent is going to 11 and you are going to 6 still. Then the first ball your opponent makes would have to be spotted at the end of his inning, it still counts toward his score as he would only need 10 more balls to win. For when you both are needing one ball (meaning your both in the one hole) the score would be 10 to 5 and who ever makes that last ball on the table would win. The only reason there is a last ball for someone to make is because your opponent spotted the first ball he made, other wise the game could not work.
When the spot adds up to 17 one ball must be spotted.
For every ball the spot adds up to over 17 an extra ball must be spotted.
