I found that it is good as an initial gauge but feel is most important. Good inexpensive tool to have. EDIT On putting on my eyeglasses, the unit indicates a D, which is for very hard readings EDIT Shore D would NOT be suitable for testing the hardness of cue tips. Am I mistaken?
