Made a big move to MT this summer.... Thought i could find a good place to play; this was not the case, and i am going on 5 months with no pool... Feeling quite empty inside, anyone else feel like this when they cant play for some time? I have decided to take a job in the oil field, and live in Fargo ND. lots of pool halls. I will also have plenty of time to play as i get a week off at a time.. Anyone live and play in Fargo? were do you like to play and why?

hoping to turn my tides by getting stuff off my chest and seeing how others feel when they cant play pool. trying to do the whole i hope im not alone bit haha.. Also to get an idea on the billiard life in Fargo if i can.
 
I went years without playing. Just put the cue down and moved on. I picked up playing again fairly recently. Still working on getting the rust off.

As far as playing up in your parts, no idea.

As odd as this may seem on "AZ Billiards" I am in Arizona. Which I thought when I joined was an Arizona geared site. Boy was I wrong...

Where are you living in Mt.

I know there is some oil drilling in the Fargo area but isn't most of the oilfield work in the Williston and Minot area?
 
yes it is. but i get a week off and a free place to stay so i will go back and fourth from williston to fargo
 
Just curious (for a novel I'm working on) what kind of money is typical in oil field work -- for what I'd imagine is a pretty long and tough work-week?

I feel ya. I moved to a place in northern Maine where the nearest pool hall was 25 minutes and featured tables with wooly felt in black, red, purple, tan, etc. It was brutal. I made myself get used to the idea of driving an hour to play at a decent spot. But I still didn't play nearly as often. I'd go nuts if I were e.g. 2 hours away from anything worthwhile.

In the future when I move, I will check pool halls and internet access out first and if they aren't right, then I'll keep looking.
