DymondWood Break cues tend to be different than other types of break cues, since they are very stiff and typically weigh considerably more than traditional break cues.

Which tips have you tried on your DymondWood Break Cue and what specifically do you like about the tip as compared to other break cuetips?

If you can share your experience about how much control/speed/hop you have with the specific break cue tip, it's exact name/model etc.

I had a Alex Brick after trying one that someone had at the US Am. It had a cut down white diamond on it. It jumped great, but wasn't wild about the forward weighting for breaking.

Decided to give one another try, but this time bought a Tony Layne, it's in route now. May end up being the same thing. I think that one has a G10 on it, so will try that and post back my findings.

I've switched out tips on my BK2 a few times. Mika sent me a Taom, it was okay but jumping was not as good as the standard phenolic. Don't do it much with full cue or even at all, but still didn't like losing a potential weapon. With stock phenolic I could jump over a full ball from about 14 - 16" away and draw back the length of the table. Not even close with the Taom. Tried the white diamond on someone's BK3, hit great and could jump very well and get similar spin.

Right now I'm trying a Hammerhead from Outsville on my BK2, hits nice, haven't really tried jumping much but will put it through it's paces on of these days.

The Hammerhead is my next test on the DymondWood playing cue. Please let me know how it performs in all areas when you have the chance. Thanks!

I had an ODEGA break tip on my BK3 and it works just fine, but as I recall not great for jumping balls.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but could either of you offer any insights on your thoughts about the hammerhead tip on the AB/TL cue, both for jumping and for breaking? I'll looking to pick up an AB shortly and have heard great things about the tip in general, but am wondering how well it synergizes with a cue whose weight is so front-loaded.

I have a Hammerhead Break Tip but haven't used it just yet. Sorry.

Used a bunch of tips

I have an Alex Brick Dymondwood J/B, and have used several tips on it. Started with a Samsara, still the best all-around leather B/J tip out there IMO. Then moved to a White Diamond since that's what alex normally puts on his breakers. It was OK, I felt I had more control and a better break with the Samsara. Next up I went back to leather and tried an Odega. much more power transfer than the White Diamond, a little "harder" than the Samsara. I would say it is the Leather tip for those that like phenolic tips.

And Lastly, I have a Hammerhead on the cue now. I am completely blown away at the power transfer of this tip. It is like the first time I ever hit with a phenolic tip all over again. I am having to really concentrate to keep control of the Cueball since all of the power seems to transfer. There is little to no loss of power. After I get used to it a little more, I can see that it will be devastating to the rack and jumps with a lot less effort.

I think you will be pleased with the Hammerhead on a Dymondwood cue. So far, it is a great combination!
