Dynaspheres Tungsten 572 Pool Ball Set

Regardless of all the hoopla, my Tungsten and Palladium sets have been played hard and long for over 2 years. Still look like they just came out of the box. I have Centennials and Tournaments. These Dynaspheres are both as good or better than tournaments and DEAFINITELY better that Centennials, just do not look as classic. The OB's are ALL about the same in wear across all these sets, I see the difference over time primarily in cue ball wear as it takes the most punishment. I know there is a lot of discussion about ArcosII balls as well, and I would put them as better than Centennials, as good as Tournaments although many here swear that is not true. I'm not scientific just play a couple hours every day and the is my real experience.
I definitely want a set of the predator arcos balls but haven’t felt in a $450 new set of balls mood. Omega billiards had a show special for $250 at apa nationals and I could kick myself for not using them.

You have any idea how long you'd have to use a CB to notice any wear?? YEARS. In a poolroom it would take at least 5yrs and in a home never. As for Arcos balls they use the exact same resin as Centennials: SAP.

These pics of balls inside of balls doesn’t give me a warm/fuzzy feeling about lesser priced sets, especially the one that appears to contain an Aramith Superpro 6 ball.

Wonder how many purple 5 and 13’s we’ll find someday lurking under Aramith Premier sets.

There you have it.

Those balls are counterfeits. Cheap Asian import poly resin balls.

GZ this is the first post I have ever read from you that makes no sense. The cue ball is the first to wear. Breaking with a well chalked cue over time wears the surface and you begin to see scratches that don't buff out with Aramith cleaner. I typically see a cue ball last about a couple of years on my home table. I have hardly EVER seen a cue ball in a pool room that I didn't prefer to set aside and use my own. Not sure how you arrive at this conclusion.

From actual measuring to be honest. Some of us measured balls at the hall yrs back. We knew when they bought so we had a start point. Balls around 2yrs old showed virtually no wear in terms of size. Some of the one-balls were a tiny bit smaller after 2yrs. In most rooms 8b/9b are the most played and the ONE ball takes the worst beating. Surfaces were more than playable too. There is no way a home used cueball needs replacing after two years. Place i play has some old(7yr+) cb's/1b's around that are smaller for sure. They've been gradually buying new sets. Took em long enough. Feel free not to agree, i'll probably survive.

In a busy pool room, within a year the cue ball will be smaller than regulation. The object balls wear down more slowly. Where I play, they have Centennials that are about 10 years old. All of the balls are undersized, except for a few that have been replaced recently.

All i can go by is what we measured. These were a mix of Centennials and a few Aramith IPT sets bought new. CB's were mostly red-circle A'miths. As i said we saw some smaller 1b's but as far i remember the cueballs were in good shape. Maybe a tiny bit smaller but not much. I just can't see quality balls in a home environment needing replaced in two yrs. No way. After 7-10yrs of commercial use sure they're gonna show their age.

if both players are playing and neither can tell if the balls are a speck smaller whats the difference.
Where I play, one problem is that because some balls have been replaced, the balls are different sizes. A tight rack is really hard with different ball sizes.

A big problem is when the cue ball gets worn down relative to the object balls. Draw gets very easy and follow is much harder. On some shots it can be two diamonds different on where the cue ball ends up.

What is the BEST cue ball to buy now?

I have a Brunswick Blue Circle that I sometimes use when I play in one of the pool halls downtown, but it feels heavy compared to the ball sets that are used there. I don't know what set of balls they use...maybe a cheaper brand or set.

I think I have another unused Blue Circle in a box somewhere.

bob i said if neither can tell. if they get that far worn down then its the pool hall that needs to be confronted.
but with balls easily attainable nowadays its easy to keep a set in your car.

And that's what I do now but I discovered small ball disease in 1967 and somehow I was responsible for the crap in the day room.
