dz cue I just ordered

hi guys! I just ordered a cue so no pics yet, but when I get them, you'll see them too. ok, now...a ss joint, nice curly maple forearm w/ 4 ebony points, w/ yellow and red veneers, like fire!! a bushka ring between the forearm and the smooth leather wrap. an ebony buttsleeve w/ a hoppe ring, and white buttcap. the joint will be a 5/16x14, and just 1 shaft for now. I can hardly wait to see this piece of art I designed. (there probably is someone else making similar cues) there will be NO inlays in this cue, and more along my taste in cues.

I do regret selling it, but I did use it as a basis for this cue. I added the hoppe ring, left out the inlays of veneers in the buttsleeve, and added the bushka ring. my forearm will be curly also. I don't remember the gilbert being so.

you'll love it! it may even take the place of your current playing cue. I know the mace did for me. I really have grown to like it. I even got a good remark from one of the best players in my area. he says it plays good. I agree.

Sounds like a design right up my alley.
I would do the veneers differently but that is completely a taste thing. I'm sure it is going to be a beauty.

veneers

I got a reply from Bob and he wants to do black veneers on the outside and I told him to go ahead. it'll look good. I'll go see him tomorrow afternoon to iron out the details. also...I'll get more of an idea of how it'll look finished.

Yeah i'm expecting good things from the DZ. It come with a second I1 shaft as well so it will be interesting to see how it plays with that.

As for replacing my blackcreek, i can't see that happening as that cue really does play jam up!

This must be the first thread in the cue gallery with NO PICTURE of a cue being talked about. lol

Now just replace the other two with turquoise and maple and we have very similar tastes.

I get most of my veneer ideas from Barry Szamboti and Tim Scruggs. They both seem to have an incredible eye as to what will look the best.

Good luck with it.

those are good choices too koop, but I want the forearm to "jump" out at me like fire. curly maple and fire veneers will look great imo. we'll see later today I hope.

I'm sure it is going to look great. I don't know if it was your Gilbert or one I saw on Cueaddicts but the colors were the same and it looked nice.

andy does alot of cues with the "flame" veneers, but I used the one I had as a veneer basis for this one. the rest is my idea of what a cue should look like. no inlays, or at least as little as possible. why ruin the wood?

Jeff,

Andy has done maybe a dozen cues with flame colored veneers. Not many in the grand scheme of things but we've been getting the majority of them lately so it may seem like a lot.

thanks Sean!

I really didn't know how many he has done, but his look good, so I'm assuming this one will also. I just wish I had the extra money to pick up one of his cues also.

We are in total agreement here.
I love the look of beautiful wood as it is.

Then you should buy my Skip, Koop. You know you want it back! :D

nice woods

I just got back from Bob's house and from picking some wood for this cue. the points (from what I can tell) are as black as black can be, and the forearm is NICE curly maple too!! I'll get "in progress" pics from Bob, and post them here when I get them. :D

not!!

I've decided NOT to post pics here because some of you have opinion issues you need to work out. some of you have left messages where you really shouldn't have. I was only giving mine and alot of other people's opinions on someone else's cues. OPINIONS...that's it!! you don't need to go and contact someone else over it. I don't (I have an idea) know who you are...but what you did was (is) wrong. if everyone here did what you did to you, you wouldn't be happy either. sorry to those who this doesn't concern, but 1 bad apple....
