DZ Cues Brazilian Rosewood Hoppe Progress

another thread hijacked

Is there a need for the comments to Duke1977 and his cue obsession, and who really cares anymore about him buying/selling/hyping his cues.

Like it or not, it has nothing to do with this thread !!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, you have a sharp looking cue being made. Not sure if you said what type of joint you are going to have. Does he do 1/2 joints? ... if so you might want to take a test drive. I personally love piloted SS/Ivory joints.

Best of luck on the cue. Oh and do yourself the favor of getting the leather if that is what your heart desires, the added money can be found when you want something. I assure the regret and cost thereafter for the leather will be alot more.

about the hijacking......my sentiments exactly. This thread was started because I wanted to show off my soon to be pride and joy. Let's not argue, especially around the holiday season. I hate that!!! Anyhow, thanks for the comment SSach. I will definately go with leather if I can, I will do everything in my power. For the joint I chose a thin, threaded stainless steel joint. Since it is not piloted, or thick it should retain most of the wood to wood hit. Hopefully a little more crisp, and firm while retaining the feel. Happy holidays!!! :D

Dude, all I can say is congrats and you're right.

I'm glad you're getting a cue you love. And I must say, it looks great! I'm sure you'll be happy.

As for the hijacking, it my fault. I saw something brewing and I decided to spill it over. My bad.

but again - good looking cue! I'm sure you'll love it! Congrats!!!!

B <------- still thinks Jeff is a tool. (sorry. couldn't resist.)

Thanks also dukeboy, I also just emailed bob about keeping the squarish hoppe style butt with just a little rounding at the cap (if you know what I mean). I like it better that way!!!

Just a few more weeks and it will be in my hands. By the way, have I mentioned that Bob is a GREAT GUY!! He emailed me to tell me he thinks the cue would look much nicer with a black leather wrap. Remember how I said I didn't think I could afford to get it with one....well problem solved!! He said he's going to put leather on and at no charge!!!! Bob is awesome. He has been so easy to work with, and caters to your every wish.

Nice looking Hoppe. I would've left the squarish butt. I like my cues to look exactly the way I envision them but I don't want to dictate every single detail. I want the cue to still retains certain characteristics specific to the maker. Just my $.02.

It will have the "squarish" butt. It will be ever so slightly rounded at the end. It just got the last coat so it should be ready in a couple of weeks!!

Cue is in last stage. It is either receiving or has received final coat. Should be in my hands within a couple of weeks. Bob sent me this pic. I really like how the butt cap barely tapers off and the way it looks with the gray bumper. Just the way I wanted it. Sexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxay!!!

Bob, has been so easy to work with. He has made every aspect of my desire for this cue come true, including the free wrap!!! And believe you me, I have probably not been one of his easiest customers. Oh and by the way, he doesnt know it yet but he will have another order from me for a titlist tribute cue!!!!

What do ya guys think?

No pics of the forearm yet. He will send them soon though. I just wanted to see the completed butt because I was being so anal about keeping the "squarish" butt plate. LOL.

Are there any pics of the forearm?? that's what I'm waiting to see....:D

me too.. those veneers are the nuts.

i dont understand the obsession with the high points to the collar. doesnt do it for me!

Here is the forearm of the finished cue. Ready to ship out next week sometime. Oh boy can't wait.

That cue is awesome!! As you said, Bob is great to work with. I've been to his shop a number of times and he always spent time with me and my friends explaining some of the advantages etc. of cue making construction and designs. I ordered a new cue from Bob a couple weeks ago and he will have it done mid June. I can't wait until it's done!! Good luck with your new cue!!
