Full review of my new Bob Dzuricky:
I sent Bob an email a long while ago inquiring about a custom cue. I wasnt very specific in my questions, so Bob wasnt very direct in his answers (totally my fault). He requested I look at his pricing page and go from there. He also asked me to do some thinking/research on what I wanted exactly. So I thought about what I wanted, and joined this forum to learn more about sticks. Once I had a good Idea what I wanted I started a thread looking for a cue maker. I was pointed to Webb cues, but he was a bit out of my price range. So again I checked out Bob's prices, and they were right for me. I sent Bob another email with exactly what I was looking for and my overall budget; and away we went. We exchanged at least 20 more emails. Bob was better than I could have hoped for. He answered all my questions, Helped by making suggestions, kept me updated on all progress, and finished the cue a full month a head of schedule. I am completely satisfied with Bob as a businessman and a cue maker. Couldnt ask for a better person to deal with. I really cant sing enough praises for Bob.
On to the cue:
Birdseye maple forearm
Bob used a very nice grade of BEM in my forearm.
Ebony butt sleeve with Hoppe trim ring (synthetic ivory) and gray bumper (to go with trim)
4 ebony points with 4 veneers - black, gray, cadet blue & white
black with blue spec Irish linen wrap
Black linen joint collar with Trim rings at joint/shaft and wrap
Birdseye JPs w/matching trim rings
Bob's 3/8-10 Flat Bottom joint
One 12.8mm shaft
Juma ferrule with pad and Medium Triangle
And all this comes in at a perfect (for me) 19 oz.
Pros:
-Great man to work with
-Excellent craftsmanship
-Hell of a lot of cue for the money
-Made exactly the way I asked. Bob told me he usually only makes very stiff, hard hitting cues. I, just to be difficult, have to have a firm, soft hit in my cues. Bob fully delivered. Nice stiff shaft, but that perfect, soft hit. Cue really puts the action on Whitey.
Cons:
-Trim rings dont match up at the Joint; also with the joint protectors. This really isnt a con for me, as I dont care that much; but others have mentioned it on here so I wanted to share for the sake of a full review.
-Sorry, no more Cons.
I liked working with Bob so munch, I had him make me a set of Joint Protectors for one of my other cues. Believe me, guys, Bob Dzuricky is the real deal. I am already planning my next DZ custom cue.
Sorry for the long post.
