Full review of my new Bob Dzuricky:

I sent Bob an email a long while ago inquiring about a custom cue. I wasnt very specific in my questions, so Bob wasnt very direct in his answers (totally my fault). He requested I look at his pricing page and go from there. He also asked me to do some thinking/research on what I wanted exactly. So I thought about what I wanted, and joined this forum to learn more about sticks. Once I had a good Idea what I wanted I started a thread looking for a cue maker. I was pointed to Webb cues, but he was a bit out of my price range. So again I checked out Bob's prices, and they were right for me. I sent Bob another email with exactly what I was looking for and my overall budget; and away we went. We exchanged at least 20 more emails. Bob was better than I could have hoped for. He answered all my questions, Helped by making suggestions, kept me updated on all progress, and finished the cue a full month a head of schedule. I am completely satisfied with Bob as a businessman and a cue maker. Couldnt ask for a better person to deal with. I really cant sing enough praises for Bob.

On to the cue:

Birdseye maple forearm
Bob used a very nice grade of BEM in my forearm.

Ebony butt sleeve with Hoppe trim ring (synthetic ivory) and gray bumper (to go with trim)

4 ebony points with 4 veneers - black, gray, cadet blue & white

Black linen joint collar with Trim rings at joint/shaft and wrap
Birdseye JPs w/matching trim rings

Bob's 3/8-10 Flat Bottom joint
One 12.8mm shaft
Juma ferrule with pad and Medium Triangle

And all this comes in at a perfect (for me) 19 oz.

Pros:
-Great man to work with
-Excellent craftsmanship
-Hell of a lot of cue for the money
-Made exactly the way I asked. Bob told me he usually only makes very stiff, hard hitting cues. I, just to be difficult, have to have a firm, soft hit in my cues. Bob fully delivered. Nice stiff shaft, but that perfect, soft hit. Cue really puts the action on Whitey.

Cons:
-Trim rings dont match up at the Joint; also with the joint protectors. This really isnt a con for me, as I dont care that much; but others have mentioned it on here so I wanted to share for the sake of a full review.
-Sorry, no more Cons.

I liked working with Bob so munch, I had him make me a set of Joint Protectors for one of my other cues. Believe me, guys, Bob Dzuricky is the real deal. I am already planning my next DZ custom cue.

Sorry for the long post.

Very Nice Cue

The Veneer work and color selection is great. The color balance is fantastic with the veneers, decor rings and wrap.
Oh Josh hows the juma ferrule? Sounds like you like the same hit that i like little stiff but soft hit. Im having a juma ferrule put on my new SP should be getting it in about a month.

Thanks for the compliments.
That is exactly the hit I was looking for, and I tell ya, I am really liking this Juma ferrule. This is my first cue with Juma. Varney uses this material a good bit, and equates the hit to old yellow micarta. Also heard that Juma with a Sniper tip would be about as soft as you can get with out being mushy.

Thanks again.

Bob is great to work with. Nice looking cue you have there, and if its anything like the dz I had him build it hits sweet.

Josh,

Very Nice Cue.
Is It Your Main Shooter?
I Just Got A Chance To Shoot With The Cue That Bob Recently Converted For Me. Very Happy With It.

Thanks Slim. Yeah this is my main player. Has been since the day it arrived.

I really like your conversion. Classic and clean Hoppe.

Josh, that was an excellent review for an excellent cuemaker! Man, that is a really sweet looking cue!! I like the traditional style and the veneers look really great! I also have a custom Dz cue that Bob made and I am really satisfied with and it's my player. As you mentioned, Bob is terrific to work with when designing and specifying a custom cue. He is also willing to share his honest opinion which is rare for a cuemaker rather than just going along with something to make a sale. He really wants the customer to be happy with the cue and searches out the individual's likes just as he did in your case. He just doesn't want to make a cue for the sake of making one. I have friends that also have Dz cues and they all rave about the quality and playability of them. Good luck with your cue. I know you are going to like it and it's a keeper for sure.

That's a great looking cue. I love the cadet blue in the veneers, matching up with the blue specks in the wrap.

Thanks guys, most appreciated.

Josh...glad you took the time to learn exactly what you wanted. Well done.

That was the hardest part!!

Bump for Bob.

I was reading back through my review and I completely forgot to mention:

Bob and I were talking about the cue through a good many emails, and he came to the point of doing the wrap area. He mentioned how matching trim rings above and below might add a little finesse to the cue. I didn't know if it would be too much, as I was trying for a classic Hoppe. I went back and forth for a few days and finally I told Bob it was up to him as I couldn't decide. As you can see, I am so glad he mentioned the rings; they look fantastic. Did I also mention that since we had a quoted, finalized price these rings were a Free-Bee. You gotta love Free, especially when it jazzes up my stick.

EDITED to add pic

Thanks again Bob.

This is the first time I have looked at this thread. It turns out I'm building almost an identical cue for a fellow in Atlanta. Exact same veneers but my deco-rings are the exact same as the point veneers. Mine has snow-flake mop diamonds and dots in the points and butt collar but no Hoppe ring. Just a coincidence

Well, the cue is far from done as it gets 2 more turns, a joint and pin and inlays but this is what it looks like at present.
