E-bay sucks! Why is it that you can bid on an item and when that item ends you a contractually obligated to buy it,or risk negative feedback, or other actions from e-bay.But,if the seller renigs on the deal or "reserves the right to end the auction early as item is for sale locally" there is no consequence from e-bay on that seller. Why is that?Is it not a two way contract between both parties?Do the sellers have all of the rights and none go to a buyer?I just wanted to get some opinions from other forum members who have to put up with this type of junk before. For those of you who have dealt with me before, you know i am very easy going and not very opinionated but this really pisses me off.If these jerks that put their stuff on e-bay shouldn't be held to the same standards and practices, why should anyone hold their end of the bargain?Either let the sales go through or don't put it on flea bay to begin with.Period.Now my rant is over and let's here from other forum members.:)

Well, it used to be that way....once a winning bid was placed and the auction ended, both parties were contractually obligated to complete the transaction. I do not understand why eBay is allowing for ending auctions early...because it used to be a huge no-no. I also do not even understand why, especially with a recent cue that has been re-listed numerous times, those winning bidders are not leaving negative feedback....I sure as hell would! AND, I would be writing a scathing email to eBay. I realize that there are special circumstances that arise.....but not getting what you wanted for an item is certainly not one of them.....use the 'reserve' option, that's what it's there for.

i think alot of people who bid on a cue and a seller doesnt follow throughm, they are afraid to leave negative feedback because of the retalitory negative the seller will leave...

recently, i bought a old meucci orginal for a relative.. he had all the intentions of the world to have it refenished and he got it really cheap.. but when the cue came it was in very very sad shape.. but atleast it was straight.. so i convinced him just to send it off and have it redone like he wanted to.. because i ddint want to deal with this seller when we did absolutley nothing wrong.. he mostly sells tools, and people were leaving him neutrals and he was leaving negatives back...

as for ending the auction early.. i do not agree with that either.. but i think its far better that a seller does that then REFUSE to sell the item at all.. i think them refusing is bad and there should be something done about it just because they didnt get what they wanted for it.. then they should have set a minumum or a reserve.. in that case a buyer should be able to negative the seller and there should be nothing he can do to buyer because in fact there is nothing they did wrong.. its getting worse and worse everyday..

I think ebay gets their "insertion" fees, even if the auction ends early. So, they are happy. Short of kicking people off of ebay, I'm not sure how they can "make" a seller sell something they claim is "no longer available".

If the seller chooses to end auction early, or stop auction for any reason, it is their option. Some sellers post in their listing "I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION EARLY". Reason seller can end a auction is the item is still owned by the person who listed the item. THEY MAY HAVE CHANGED THEIR MIND ABOUT SELLING THE ITEM, THE ITEM MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED, OR THE ITEM SOLD LOCALLY. This is under ebay rules, and acceptable. Some live auction this may also happen. If you bid and win a auction, the auction has been completed. You the bidder have entered into a legal binding contract with the seller. To purchase the item described in the listing, at your bid plus any s/h fee agreed on by seller and buyer (winning bidder). I have sold, or bought over 2500 items on ebay since 1998. Most of the people on ebay both sellers, and buyers at not jerks. They are straight up people, as most AZ folks. As the man said thats "my 2 cents worth"

The day of reckoning for ebay is coming soon.

The lawsuits are going to rack up in regards to their decisions regarding google checkout.

The lawsuits are on the rise for the way PayPal handles ebay auctions and the way PayPal will gladly authorize a credit card for someone to pay you but then takes no responsibility if that credit card is fraudulent unless you happen to meet certain criteria for ebay only sales.

They've settled almost every case regarding responsibility because they know if it ever gets into the higher courts they are going to rule that since ebay is taking cash for you for a auction listing they are partially responsible for that sale.

PayPal is on the verge of being forced into bank status as well.

There are many good buys on ebay but the company who runs it and paypal both suck.

There is now a person on here that used to do it quite often. So much so, that people would indeed leave him negative feedback...and eBay even kicked him off several times. There is really no way of knowing who is truly honest and who is truly just covering up for one another. A cue is just so subjective. What hits great to one, may stink to another. Take it for what it is...a hobby...and don't let any of it bother you. If you no longer enjoy cue trading, then don't do it. Period.

that sounds about right

Cuedoctor,
That sounds about right. All of the shill bidding on the bay has really put a damper on honest sellers for fear of getting scrwed.

I would say that it pays to be very cautious with ebay...I haven't had any problems....yet...If a seller doesn't meet my personal guidelines I don't deal with them...feedback and how well they answer inquiries determine if I do business with them....

The real travesty of justice is the shill bidding that ebay allows to go on. It is compounded by them allowing sellers to have private feedback and bidder list. :p

I recently got a second chance offer on an item I bid $250 on. Three other people bid more than that and the item sold for $400. Did the seller just have extremely bad luck and have three buyers back out on him, and then decide to sell the item for considerably less to me?

I let him keep it.

I have only purchased on E-bay, never Sold anything. All Transaction were Smooth as Silk, like my Buying and Selling Experiences on AZ-B...
