"labor pains" before a new age in pocket billiards.

CJ is right. The top hot dog vendor in NYC makes $500K per year. The best at anything skilled should be paid like that. And every other pro athlete, regardless of sport, has access to handlers and pr. Had things been different in our industry, earl, warts and all, would be a revered American icon.

The Sport/Game of Pocket Billiards has a Hundred Million Dollar a Year potential and the players are struggling to make ends meet. It's really difficult to believe it's cycled down this far from where I saw it in 1999.

This is unfortunate, but that's how life is sometimes, there must be "labor pains" before new life can manifest.....or in this case a new age in pocket billiards.

The Sport/Game of Pocket Billiards has a Hundred Million Dollar a Year potential and the players are struggling to make ends meet. It's really difficult to believe it's cycled down this far from where I saw it in 1999.

I sure hope so! I got serious about the game in the early 90's and we always had a table at home, but stepping into a pool room for the first time was an epiphany for me! I never wanted to leave. I don't know how to convey that feeling to the general public?

I was in 3 different rooms yesterday, and the conversation was the same everywhere....where did all the players go....we ended up at Drexeline Billiards watching the Mezz tour event and we played some 3 cushion. Besides the players, there really were very few spectators. I don't know how to make it more fun to watch for the average person?

I guess if history is correct, we need a movie, or TV show to get the public re-aquainted with the game.

yes, from our research the general public will never want to see two people playing pool...no matter how much money is at stake UNLESS they have an emotional attachment through hearing more about their backgrounds in gambling, hustling and living life "On the Road". Then, they will watch and even participate in pocket billiards.
