Earl lessons

I wanted to give David the 1st dibs on posting about the Earl lessons. I
took 2 hours from Earl just after David took his four . 1st I want to thank
David for letting me sit and and help a bit with the video of his lessons .If
any of you guys are close to Hendersonville David plays great and if you
get a chance you should meet him and play a few sets .He and his wife
are great folks and made me feel very welcome. Now for the lesson
Earl is a great player and alot of fun to be around .He taught me more
in two hours about speed and spin than I think just about anyone could .
Earl came as close as anyone I have ever seen to actually being able to teach stroke. It will probably take me months of practice to try to get
what he taught me into my game . That was the good side .
The only quirk I had was that Earl was SO into his new equipment
and I do salute him for finding what works for him although it may or
may not be what works for everyone .His cue and the shaft do hit really,
really great but I am real happy with the cue I have .I did alot of research
and played and have played with alot of cues and I like my Hightower cue.
I do have a Varney on the way and I played with one of his sneakys a few
weeks back . I feel certian that when I get the Varney that and my Hightower
cues are all I will ever need . I do have a Meucci original SP from the 80's
that hits real sweet too but I may sell it .Well enough about cues .
Overall I was extremly happy and even honored to be able to take a lesson
from Earl .Alot of folks would give anything to be able to take a lesson from
someone who has been and done the things with pool that Earl has .He has
some great ideas and is very inovative .My only critique for Earl's teaching is
that it should be geared more toward the player and not the equipment .It
was good to see him in good spirits and I think he has a passion for teaching,
the game ,and new ideas .I may go back in a few months and take another
couple of hours but I am letting him know up front I really like my cue .....as
much if not more than Earl likes his .
Thanks again to David and his wife for letting me be a part of that day it
was alot of fun . It's nice to have friends who love this stuff as much as me
Earl whenever I work out that bridge issue and get my spin and speed balanced out I have your words of wisdom to thank .

Yep I agree .The color of money match with Earl and Efren
is some of the best pool I have ever seen .Wish I could get
a copy of that I got stuff to trade ......hint hint

You have to understand that Earl is quite serious about promoting Mike's cues...much moreso than he had to with Cuetec. They had a multimillion company with hundreds of thousands in ad dollars to promote Earl, Alison, and their line of cues. That Earl is hot about Mike's cues is understandable, considering Mike is footing the bill for Earl 'pool studio'. Mike, I doubt, makes one dime off of Earl's lessons...so he's obviously looking for cue sales, and Earl is his #1 salesman. That aside, I'm sure both your and David's lesson were interesting, and lots of fun! I'm going to go there too in Oct.

I see ....

Yes it is true that he has to promote but you had to be there .....
when you go in Oct let me know what you think and maybe you
will like what Earl plays with better than what you have .He says
there is no going back .I loved the lesson do not get me wrong it
was a great thing .I just don't think I am ready for another cue and
a glove .I may though who knows .If I see two or three people
start poping up winning tournaments wearing gloves and cues
like Earl's I will give it another try
