I hope Matchroom announces Earl needing to defend his position on MC team by having a king of hill tournament.

Again, my point is Matchroom should make the Team USA selection process more transparent.

Otherwise many people, the Pros included, will continue to get the impression that there is some sort of favoritism going on.

I'm sorry if you would rather call names instead of acknowledging the unfortunate reality of how things work.

Isn't the captain's pick all about favoritism? It's obvious to me, and I don't see anything wrong with it. If the higher-ups don't like how he applies his favoritism, they can replace the captain.

Don't forget MR. Anyone who thinks they are not closely involved in the picks is kidding themselves. They're selling entertainment. They're not in the butthurt social-engineering business.
 
Until they have a true merit system for choosing the team they should drop the name Team USA. This team is a joke and will provide for the entertainment of the European and rest of the world TV audience and the humiliation of the USA audience. I hope it is done by day 2. Let me know if there is a free YouTube feed because I sure in hell will not pay a penny for this show :D:D

I prefer making choices based on merit, just like you claim that we all should.

In the top player Fargo ratings for the USA, Josh Roberts is #11 with a 771.

Tyler Styer is #15 with a 760, Tony Chohan is #27 with a 752, and Chris Robinson-Reinhold is #38 with a 742.

And, yes, Earl Strickland is #8 with a 775.

But it appears that while players like Josh Roberts and Tony Chohan are indeed qualified, they seem to have been excluded for "other" reasons.

However, since you are so upset that someone would even insinuate race playing a part... perhaps Matchroom should make the Team USA selection process more transparent, so we can truly see how much "politics" really has to do with who is selected.

Until that happens, many of us will continue to be left with the impression that there is, and always has been, some sort of favoritism when it comes to choosing who plays in the Mosconi Cup for Team USA.

As things currently stand, the Mosconi Cup Team USA does not represent the very best that American pool has to offer.

Maybe we should all be a little more concerned with why that is the case.

I would like to see Josh playing on the U.S team for sure. Tony would not be considered because of many reasons...
  1. Lack of consistent rotation play.
  2. Lack of recent rotation tournament top finishes.
  3. Possible past character issues.
In team sports like Hockey, Baseball, Football and Basketball not always do the best players get chosen. Often chosen is the best available players. A known commodity. Mosses Malone once said...

Malone had said before Tuesday's game he could round up four friends from his hometown of Petersburg, Va., where he left high school and went to the pros, and play even with a Celtics team he suggested was overrated. He didn't back off after the Celtics had humiliated his team.
  1. Most of the players chosen are very active touring, playing national and international events.
  2. Most have a long amateur pedigree.
  3. This makes those players stand out to coaches and recruiters.
  4. The same applies for pool.
There are several players past over. Shaun Wilkie to name one. Shaun has won many, many titles. Not everything has to be about...
