This may be an accident waiting to happen, but then again who knows if the stars are aligned just right and and Earl catches a gear reminiscent of the days of yore,,, well it’s what sports stories are made of. One thing is for sure you (and especially you) and I remember what Earl was once capable of playing like, if that Earl wafted into the arena, those Europeans might just as well stay at their preferred pub with their pints of ale.

Intimidated, really? Which prospective Team USA member(s) do you think would intimidate any of this year's Euro team members? None. However, even the anticipation of Earl's antics may make some of the Euros uncomfortable. I think that's as close to intimidation as anyone is going to get. His behavior during the matches may not be pretty, but it might be kind of fun to see Earl give the Euro fans back some of the same stuff that many of them deal out at every MC. Also, many times it seems that Earl steps his game up a notch when he is feeling everyone is against him.
I agree. The Mosconi Cup just lost considerable credibility to me, with this choice. So many other younger US pro players far more deserving.
This is a desperate attempt at gaining interest and viewers, simply because Matchroom knows that this year’s MC is likely to be a lopsided result, no matter who the US puts in there with SVB.
It has the potential to be a train wreck, although should prove great for viewership and ratings either way.

What more could anyone add to all the negative aspects of having Earl on the Mosconi cup team?
I personally witnessed Earl go off last week at the American 14,1 event- he appeared to be a man without any control over himself mentally.
He appears to become hyper sensitive to his surroundings when things are not going his way- and then, as he identifies in his mind what he somehow believes to be the external cause of his faltering; he suddenly lashes out at that person in an explosion of words and sometimes physical confrontation that is both without basis or justification.
This is not the type of confrontation that one sees on sports fields that are the result of head to head contact sport reactions. Instead, what is witnessed with Earl is irrational, impulsive, behavior that is often directed at imagined/ unreasonably targeted threats to his performance.
I find no joy in witnessing such behavior- I would rather just watch great pool!

Matchroom is not known for making too many bonehead moves. They know exactly what they're doing here. The main crowd for this is on SkySports and MR is sending Earl in as the villain for them to boo-n-hiss. Its gonna be like watching an old western to see who gets gunned down on main street at high noon. Why do people watch auto racing? The wrecks of course. No different here. People will watch this just to see what Earl does, good or bad.
Your right on the money. The fans there will go after Earl relentlessly in the hopes he will completely lose it. Matchroom undoubtedly knows and expects this so I guess we all will have to watch and hope Earl does the impossible and plays great and behaves like the champion he is.. Chances of that are.............
