Earl's Glove

Does anyone know what Earl is doing wearing a glove on his GRIP hand?

Only thing that I can think is that the glove is tacky and provides the same result as using one of those rubber grips that you slide onto the butt of your cue.

The wraps on cuetechs are really smooth rubber, which everyone seems to hate. I held one before and there is no way I could play with it, it felt like I was gonna slip stroke if I had to hit a ball hard.

It doesn't say much for what he really thinks of Cue tech cues. He has a glove on his bridge hand to help him make a smooth stroke and one on his grip hand to make up for the bad feel of the cues handle. I am surprised they allow him to do all that. To be honest, I would not be surprised to see them let him go sometime in the near future and them sign one of the new young guns.

Earl actually has Tennis handle tape wrapped on his playing cue and is wearing the glove. The handle is much thicker than standard.

Also, his break cue is cut about 1 inch below the wrap with a new bumper added. It is significantly shorter than a standard cue, 54 inches I think..

Thats even worse then my original thought. He must really hate those cues.

Actually, the glove may have a "STIFFENER" sewn into the Back-Hand part of the glove. That would eliminate any possible "wrist torquing" during the shot. I experimented with that back in 2001, it works very well, especially if you have accidentally included that nasty habit into your stroke. A few weeks with one of those gloves, that TRAIN your wrist "through the stroke" do work. Don't be surprised to see them marketed some day....

Lets see.... we have the left hand glove, now we got the right hand glove, we have comfy some shoes, next we'll have a shooting arm "pivoting brace" for the shooting arm elbow, then next we'll have crosshairs on our Automatic Cues. We'll all look like robots, but we'll all play well. I love this game....

I guess he needs every gimick for his game, soon he will have a golf watch on :D
Yes, & coming from the guy who has used finger extensions, yellow glasses, & lord knows what else, he actually gave Shawn Putnam a hard time during the finals last week in Cambridge.... and I quote "It's impossible to beat you kids today with all the gadgets you use." Shawn had a jump cue...

It's you average everyday batting glove. He went to the sporting goods store in Cambridge & bought it before the semi finals because his old batting glove had lost it's grip.

His break cue is about 4 or 5 inches shorter than his regular playing cue.

His playing cue is wrapped with a tennis grip wrap.

His uses a glove on his grip hand, that looks like a wide receiver glove for football players.

After seing the pic, I would have to agree. Maybe he thinks it's a batting glove... LOL, that's what he said it was....

Tom, pleasure meeting you this weekend!

I was thinking about the glove myself. Is it possiable that the extra padding in the glove woud also give you a looser backand grip while haveing your entire hand wraped around the cue. I've never put a glove on to play, but I thought that this idea could be possiable.

Mike

maybe he has arthritis, and cant close is hand around the grip and needs the extra padding between the tennis handle and glove to get the grip he desires. i am just bullsh@ting, but you never know

I dunno, He can be a spaz, but if I had to wear a glove on my head and walk around like a chicken to have his game, I would..............minus all the pissin n moanin.

Earl has a shortened cue for jumping, not as short as a jump cue, but probably with a stiff taper and a hard tip. So he has finally realised that he's not going to win the argument.

Hey.....

If I could play like him, I'd wrap up like a freakin' Mummy. If that's what it took.

He likes to tinker with things, on the golf course as well. Sometimes he'd use a 1/2 roll of white 'bandage' tape wrapping his hands up.

He hasn't realized anything.... he gave Shawn a hard time about the jump cue. Shawn actually jumped one or two balls with his playing cue to prove that he can in fact jump w/out the jump cue. Par for the course, Earl found something else to blame the loss on....there were many reasons but I'm pretty sure the last one mentioned was breaking from the rail....Because Shawn was breaking from the rail & making the wing ball, Earl couldn't win. :p
