Early action on the U.S. Open?

U.S. Open 9 Ball Championship 2008

Does anyone want some early action on the U.S. Open? Here is the deal.

I was talking to Barry Behrman at the Va. State 9-Ball Championship this past weekend.

This year, there is going to be $100,000 added money for the 2008 Open and Barry is so confident that there will be a full field of 256 players; he is willing to bet $10K that the field is full.

Barry will accept a bet of $10,000 from one person or $1,000 each from 10 people. He will not accept bets smaller than $1,000 per person. Barry will also post up at the bank of your choice. The man is very confident that he will fill this field. Obviously, you will be required to post up too.

If you, or a group of you, want to wager $10,000 against Barry filling the field for the Open, contact me and I will refer you to Barry.

I?m posting this on several forums, per Barry?s request. Get your cash together and contact me ASAP. I wouldn?t want you to miss out on this wager because someone beat you to it.

What is the date of the last day that I will be able to make that wager with Barry?

(Here's wishing Barry much success -- he deserves it -- thanks Barry!)
Had fun last year and enjoyed Barry's very large and unique private band.

No disrespect intended Rich R, but any assumption that a stakehorse like billychips might be in any way at all against gambling on pool, public or otherwise, is probably almost on a par with cocobolo cowboy's recent offering of advice to Gulyassy on how to become a pro :p :)
I have no ida how to give those green things out for good rep, but you can have all mine after that post!!!

My assumption was based on Billychips original post.

How would you interpret his post?

Understand how you're reading the wording Rich but I don't think in that post he actually meant there's anything bad about gambling on pool per se.....he probably meant that a daft bet like this, easily fixable by the bet offerer if he was so inclined, perhaps isn't the best type of pool gambling to showcase when there's lots of other bona-fide gambling going on, that's all. The fact that billychips has in the past been a fairly prolific stakehorse at times, makes it easier to understand what he meant.

Anyway, no big deal bud.......just some light hearted fun......can see your point about any publicity is good publicity as well, no offence I hope:smile:

Click on the "rep" button at the bottom of the post you are appreciating.
When you go to the other screen, you can also make a comment if you choose.

Mike, on the internet, I have to read what people write, not what they meant to write. But, as you said, it's just a little fun thing to get people talking, and writing, about the Open.
There was definitely no offense taken.

Then you need to reread what I wrote. I clearly stated, and I will repeat, I am ALL for gambling!!! You can not be any more clear about that. I absolutely love to gamble and think it is awesome, however, I find it hard to believe that if pool is to be taken seriously, which everyone on here always cries about, then the promoter of the U.S. Open trying to gamble on whether or not the event is sold out is in bad taste. Just my opinion. I have never heard of a a promoter of a big time golf tournament, or any other major sporting event for that matter, come out and make a wager like this.
