Early Impressions Of The Diamond Professional

IMO, the solution is a brand new Gold Crown VII or Centennial. Those tables are breaker's delights. Let us know when you put your order in.
Question is? When playing 1p if a ball is made on the break does it count. That kills the ball on break concern😂

I played on Diamond Pro 7-footer and 9-footer over the weekend at Fat Cats in Ashville. Neither table banked or kicked short. They were spot on.

By contrast, the GC I usually play on banks and kicks a bit short.

I've played on a few other Diamond 7-footers that banked as usual.

Really have to wonder if Diamond has changed its table over time to bank and kick like other tables. The newer ones seem to play like other brands now in that regard.

Red or blue would be a good place to start, if you wanna know...y'know?!

I think DCP just has an unrealistic expectation of "runnable racks". Instead of watching TOP pro's on Accu-Stats, go to the Zuglan Joss Turning Stone event stream where a lot of regional level players (650-700 FargoRate range) are on the stream. Count how many runnable racks those guys have.

At the end of the day, breaking good is a skill. If you're a 700 player you will break way better than a 600, etc, because your accuracy of hit and knowledge of the break and rack will be much higher.

i spoke with Dr Cue, and he says he has many students and proteges and all of them put in the effort to video any problem areas that they would like to work on and send them to him for review

he also said a few of his students over the years will just talk about their troubles and make excuses and ask for advice on new cues and gloves and chalk etc

but without meeting them or at least watching the player’s abilities and limitations on video, he considers them to be either trolls- nonexistent- or selfish and non serious players, fools, like don quixote

I’m old school and was taught that as my grip hand comes back to visualize holding a hammer. My rear fingers fall away as I cock my wrist lifting the head of the hammer as high as I can, cue doesn’t actually move, just hand rotation. As I come forward, with perfect timing I might add, I snap the head of the hammer into the cloth like I’m driving the full length of a 16 penny nail into a 4x4. I think I like Nataddrho’s explanation better though

When did you speak with Tom?

Years ago he was down at my place five (5) times.

He taught me how to jump. Amongst alot of other things. The guy that used to come down and play with me was his college roommate over at Eastern Illinois. He passed away from cancer about 20 years ago.

He came to your house the day after Christmas 5 years in a row?

And he never taught you how to break?

Yes, that is correct. His wife grew up 25 miles north of me and they would come down to her parents house around Christmas time. Then the day after he would come down to my place.

We discussed the break shot many times.

But this has been nearly 25 years ago now.

Breaking has changed since then.

And he told me once, regarding the Gold Crown IV, the same thing Billy Incardona said once. The GCIV is not known to be a good breaking table.

I've also had discussions with others regarding the break. Others such as Nick Varner, Diana Minor, Mark Wilson. I've used and tried everything they have shown me. I just don't seem to have any luck no matter what I do. That's why I jokingly make the comment about needing an exorcism.

So a lot of people race the ghost with ball in hand off the break. How do you do then?

i am having trouble visualizing this
A)when i pick up a hammer my wrist moves to the thumb side
this also happens as i finish my stroke
and
B) when i hit the nail my wrist goes to my pinky finger side .......this happens on my backswing
you are describing the reverse i think
confused

I just think you don't put in enough time to practice the break shot like it deserves. I practice breaking about 30 mins each day, because I know I won't magically be able to break well when I need to. This includes studying the speed, power, cueball tip placement, contact point on the 1, and the reaction of the balls during each break.

There is no shortcut except for practicing the break over and over again.

Not very.

Out of every 10 times when I FINALLY do get a runnable rack after the break I will usually mess them up 7-8 times.

Of course it would usually take me almost 100 breaks to get 10 runnable racks.

I've only broken about 50,000 racks over the last 20+ years.

Nothing ever seems to change.

So you're a b player, nothing wrong with that, unless you're obsessed with becoming an a player.
