Earthquake Vs. Jose Parica

Trying to put something together

Does Keith still play on a regular basis? If so, I would love to see him play a match against Earl with a variety of games kind of like Earl’s match with Sigel a few years ago

Seems like he and Dave Matlock were trying to put something together before covid 19 put everything into a tailspin. Probably be a single type of game on a barbox. I would like to see sets of old school two foul nine ball, texas express, and eight ball if they play on a barbox. If they were to play on a bigbox I'd hope to see one pocket instead of the eight ball series.

I thought it was an entertaining old match. The play was a little up and down but still interesting. A handful of times Keith played the second or third most obvious shot that was a very good shot. A level of table generalship that he isn't known for. Parica is at least in his mid-fifties and it shows.

One thing you have to watch closely to catch, there was a second at about the fifty-seven minute mark where Keith comes within an eye blink of shattering his cue. I think that was when he jawed the second nine ball in the match to give a game to Parica and give him a little air. I am sure Keith suspects that giving Jose a break could be the end of the match at that point, or that was true recently enough to live on in memory.

We don't get to see top speed Parica or McCready but still a match worth the watching I believe.

I played Keith once in Olathe in a 1pocket tournament and Parica once in the US One Pocket Open.

My feeling is that Parcia is the better 1pocket player but I can easily see how Keith would be a terror at 9ball with his pocketing skills.

+ Keith's laissez-faire approach can be more than a little disarming to those of us who swim upstream.

I saw Kieth play JJ in the one pocket division in Goldsboro, NC several years back. In one game JJ.needed two balls and Keith one. Keith slow rolled a long rail bank leaving one ball in the jaws and one up table. JJ kept looking real hard at the ball in the jaws. It didn’t look too terribly hard to remove and Kieth was into the cups pretty good, so eventually Keith started getting all animated and acting like the village idiot. After an unusually long time looking at the shot JJ casually walked up and hit bottom rail first and jarred the ball three rails into his pocket. The cue ball came up table for the easy bank for the win. Keith was busy running his mouth and I don’t think he ever saw the shot. When JJ got down to shoot his out ball Kieth thought he had won the game and JJ was just cleaning up for fun. It wasn’t until a few minutes after JJ made his out ball that a fat local guy laughed and told JJ good win before Keith knew he lost the game.
