Ebay Automatic Bidding Question

I happened to notice one member of the Ebay community that is also a member of Az forum (I think) has been able to bid during the last 5 to 7 seconds of auctions consistently, which has helped him win the items (cues and such).

I have heard that there are services out there that will slide a bid in at the last minute, but can anyone fill me in on this? I understand that "all is fair" and that the sellers are still getting the maximum that someone is willing to pay, but these sly bids are a definate edge and are taking some of the fun out of the bidding process.

It seems like a huge advantage and can be used all the time, not like your 3-per-lifetime use limitation of the all-defeating "Dynamite" (made like a Fonzy thumbs-up sign) in the game "Rock, Scissors, Paper". I still have two of my Dynamites left.... Had to use one in back college for something REALLY special....

you make an account and put in what time you want to bid (ie - 5 seconds before auction ends, etc).

You put in the highest amount you will go and at the time you input, your highest bid will be entered for you.

Thanks, Ross! I knew this guy was using something.... How do you feel about that being available? Any thoughts?

it really depends on the person..... I have had good luck and bad luck with it.... I have won several auctions using it that I wasn't available to watch the bid end, and I have had it not enter a bid for me like it was supposed to twice.

if there are tools to help you, my opinion is use it. either that, or sit there and hit refresh 2x/sec until the auction ends.... actually, I prefer the latter. :D

Well, I signed-up already... what was that? Only 10 minutes? Not bad! I will use it. I will need it, as I will be bidding against that other guy on an auction in two days...
Thanks for the help!

When you bid on a cue be aware that if you are not the high bidder you will recieve a email from at least one person that claims that they are the seller and the high bidder could not complete the transaction. They are willing to sell you the cue for the price you bid. This is a scam. It has happened everytime I bid on a cue and one time got 3 messages from 3 different people claiming that they were the seller. They make it look very official in there message. They will ask you to deal with them directly and by pass EBay. I can't beleive someone would fall for this but apparently they do.

Book:

Yeah, you are correct... I have gotten scammers on every auction I have bid on, winner or not AND I have had scammers try to sell the stuff I posted. They are jackasses and I turn them in every time. I doubt that anything gets done about it...

There is a guy that runs a web site (that I can't find right now) and his goal is to just run the scammers in circles... he sends them to different places looking for wire transfers he has supposedly sent among other things. Very funny stuff!

It says you will be charged a fee if you win an auction using this service...how much is the fee??

Landshark: They have varied rates from 25 cents up to $10.00 for really expensive items.

Like your "Trading Spouses" reference. Saw that show and was laughing my butt off.

In the name of Jesus, I pray!
