Some of you more experienced ebayers may already know this, but it was news to me.
When you use their Dispute Console to request an auction fee refund, you have to manually close the dispute within 45 days and declare that the auction did not complete (due to non-payment, etc.). If you don't manually close the dispute, their system automatically closes it and you DO NOT get your refund. I found this out the hard way and one of their people (Yes, I actually got to talk to a person and she was very helpful) admitted that "we don't make that requirement very clear". No shee-ott.
This helpful lady directed me to the "Online Chat" function for ebay and that extremely unfriendly and unhelpful person finally gave me the resolution. I now have to email ebay's Billing department and request a refund and explain how "I made a mistake and didn't close the dispute within 45 days" and wait for that process to unwind.
Sheesh.
