I just won an ebay item but am a little spectical now.

It was a Tim Scruggs Sneaky pete for $405 with an extra preditor shaft.

The pictures look like the finish might be heavily worn but the seller described it as GREAT CONDITION.

Now Im wondering why no-one else bid on this because items simular were going for 500 or more.

If I recieve the cue and it is desperatly crying for a new finish or looks like in spent some time lying in the middle of the freeway, can I hold the seller to the price of a new finish. Or just plain return it?

a cue that has a worn finish is not in great condition, it is very used. doesn't matter how it hits.

you have to check all the other similiar cues and compare the diff.

I looked at the cue. I have a lot of experience with this sort of thing. It's always a gamble, but if the cue is straight and solid, you've done just fine. The finish is really the least of the issues a cue can have, as long as it's just in the clear coat, which is what looks like is the case here from the photos. The cue looks like it was used by a bar player - they're usually dinged and chipped like that but it's almost always just in the clear coat.

Scruggs SP's usually go for $400 or a little more. However, you got a predator shaft with it. It will fit other cues too. I sold several Predator shafts with 5/16 X 18 Meucci fits for $125 to $150 each - no problem and quick, even used.

Proficient will make your cue looks it look better than new for $75. Sell the Predator and you should have a like new, collectible TS SP for less than $400.

By the way, I have a very early TS SP and the finish is completely worn off it - I don't care, they're great cues!

I agree. It's the best $75.00 you'll ever spend.

Triple that..

Just for good measure I'll have to throw in my thirds. Even without the Predator shaft you're in the ballpark.. and with it you've got a good deal. Scot at Proficient does fantastic work.

I had a Scruggs SPete that did not gave a finish on it and I loved it. Saw it at a tourney last weekend and hounded the owner to sell it to me. He wouldn't go for the $100 I was offering tho. I think you will be happy. You are now the owner of a fine cue!
