I purchased an item from a large ebay store on 12/8/13. Item has not arrived. I went to the ebay website today 12/17/13 to check the status, and lo and behold it says the item was delivered on 12/13/13! I have been checking my front porch area every day since I made the order and it never came. This is the first problem I have had like this and I'm not sure what to do.

My question is: what kind of protection, if any, do i have in this situation. I have contacted USPS and they said they will look into it. I have contacted the seller who basically told me that since the item shows as delivered, there is nothing he can do. Online forums have suggested that the notice of delivery confirmation will automatically make ebay drop your claim. Am I basically screwed here? I have put signs up around my building about a missing package. I dont know what else to do. I am out $90 and a christmas present:(

Any help or suggestions?
Thanks
Ian

30 day wait before you can file a claim was what they told me. UPS only since then.

Delivery Confirmation will protect the seller (under $250) against your dispute and eBay will probably dismiss it. How did you fund your PayPal payment to the seller?

Delivery Confirmation is good up to $250. In this case, the seller is protected because the tracking shows the item delivered and the amount is below $250.

You are never screwed if you use a credit card through paypal.
Guess it wasn't signature required....
Were you home when the package was supposed to be delivered?

My post office holds all my packages so I can go pick them up.

The person who delivered the package will know exactly where she or he put it.
Find out who she or he is and ask. them or their supervisor.

I'd go to the post office in person and ask a supervisor or wait for your mailman and ask them in person.

If you have no success, call ebay. Around this time of the year they like to give money back and satisfy all ebayers. If you don't get satisfaction from Ebay, call Paypal. Eventually you might talk to a good qualified person that can help or advise.

And if you get no satisfaction through phone calls, you will need to file a dispute. through ebay, or paypal.

If you paid with a credit card, you charge back is your secret weapon. Good luck!

If the seller uses Signature Confirmation, then he is automatically protected 10000%. IF not, a dispute is winnable by the buyer. I have been in this spot before and won my dispute through a similar circumstance. Paypal said "He didn't use signature confirmation, per our policy, so here is your refund"

So he is going to collect $25,000 ?!?

Still confused on the 10,000%.

If you mean is fully protected then that would be 100%. ;)

Sorry, was using hyperbole to drive the point home. The seller is truly bulletproof, made of teflon, because nothing can stick to him, if he uses signature confirmation. If he does not, the liability window is open!

I funded my paypal through bank account, not credit card. Signature confirmation was not offered. I will try my luck with paypal!

And some people might just file a dispute and say they got an empty box.

The seller didn't pack the item right.

Since it's Christmas time you might get your money back and the seller keeps the money as well.

i once bought an item on ebay and it was shipped a few days later and the same day it shipped it was shown as delivered to another state, it was shipped using ebays usps tracking and they like to recycle tracking numbers and it can make for a lot of confusion if that is the case

if that's not the case i would try and talk to your mail carrier and see if they remember the package and where they delivered it to if @ all

the post office is pretty reliable in my experiences but mistakes are made, i once bought a pool cue case off of ebay and it happened to be delivered to the 1 neighbor i don't really care for but he still knocked on the door and gave it to me, i see it as highly unlikely someone would of stolen your mail, would more likely be human or computer error

personally i have noticed a lot of glitches in the usps tracking and surely this time of year won't help matters, after a few days it will probably turn up

Had a similar situation on some fishing stuff this summer, but it eventually showed up.
You can call it a glitch, I don't know the system, but thought it was due to the shipper's system, and when it actually left the post office.
Maybe USPS assumes the package was delivered, but it's not really out for delivery yet...plus it's Christmas

If the USPS tracking shows the item as delivered, the carrier scanned the package when he left it at the location (Delivery Confirmation). It could have been the wrong house or someone might have picked the package up. USPS carriers are required to get signatures on packages (before delivery) in cases where the shipper paid for that service (Signature Confirmation) or when the insurance value exceeds a certain amount (I think its $100).

PayPal's requirements are different.

Credit Card Company's requirements are different.

Of the countless packages I've received, that was a weird one.
Like I said, I don't know the system, I rarely even track packages.
I just buy the stuff, and it shows up...just never know where exactly.
Our driveway is like 150 ft. with quite an incline, and the little mail girl doesn't like to walk down, but I don't blame her.

That's a great pic.

I just had a camera supposed to go to WA state that got scanned into a postal hub up in Alaska 2 weeks ago (sometimes they get tossed in the wrong bin) but it showed up at the proper location yesterday.

The only time I ever have USPS delivery problems is during Christmas. They are completely swamped.

usps tracking is glitchy @ times, i have had packages bounce across the country and then suddenly appear in my mail box the next day, i would wait a few days and see if it pops up and if it doesn't i would try to find out anything u can thru your local post office and it wouldn't hurt if u knew some1 that worked there that could look into it

even if it doesn't show up u could still get a "courtesy refund" from ebay if u open up a case, i got one a few months back but it was only the 2nd or 3rd time i had opened a case on ebay in a dozen or so years, communicate via ebay and remember that is a lot of what ebay will use to decide what to do if u open up a case
