Just a heads up, he doesn't exactly have the best reputation here in Chicago... or at least from anyone I know. He's kind of known for taking a deposit and then basically disappearing. Some people eventually get their cue, but it's usually well beyond what he promised. I had a friend who commissioned a cue and was told 2 years. 5 years later, still no cue, and no more responses to his email either. The only exceptions to this were close friends of his who did him a favor.
I didn't know he stopped building cues as I've been away from the scene for the majority of time after COVID, but those were the stories I heard back in the early to mid 2010s.
Oddly enough when I first started playing pool in 2010, I remember seeing him at Chris' billiards selling sneakies. I described him to my cousin, who was like "yeah that's Ed Young, you can't afford his cues". And that was the only time I ever saw him despite basically living in pool halls for the better part of a few years haha
FWIW his cues are nice and they do feel great when you hit with them. I got a chance to hit around with a few of them from local players who were able to get their hands on his cues. This plain jane may be one of the few ways to get the ed young nowadays lol.
