I'm listing this cue for a friend of mine. It's an old Eddie Laube Jr. cue that comes with one shaft. It's in original condition, a few battle scars but the sticker that Eddie put on the butt sleeve is in real good condition. It has the joint screw in the shaft like the old Burton Spain cues had. I didn't get a chance to do anything but take pictures of the cue, but the sticker on the butt sleeve says it weighs 18.5 oz. This would be a cue for the collector, who enjoys old school pool cues. It's missing the tip, but I figured it would be better in original condition and then the buyer could do whatever they wanted to the cue. I'm taking offers on the cue because I'm not really sure what it's worth. I'll take the best offer back to my friend and see if he will sell it for that price.

Does anyone out there have their finger on the pulse of what something like this is worth? I would greatly appreciate your thoughts...

The flaw may reduce the value on this- it appears to have been there since the cue was made, or is it more recent?

As to a value, that is very difficult to say. These don't come up very often, and therefore are not traded very often. Plus the market is all upside down now, so I would suggest contacting some of the bigger cue traders directly and get a feel from them, but don't let it go right away- give the market a chance to turn around to get the most from it.

I don't have the funds to even make an offer on it myself, although I would like to have it in my collection. It is a piece of history that should go to a collector for sure.

By the way, is/was there a period case for it?

There's no case with it. As for the flaw, that appears to be in the wood itself and not a ding. Thanks for your opinion, I appreciate it.
 
No problem!

I love these old cues. Unfortunately, I can't play with the majority of them because they tend to be quite short- 56-57 inches and I prefer a 59.

That limits me to Gus for vintage lumber (since he did quite a few 59" cues)and, well, I just don't roll like that unfortunately...
