Yes, I looked into all laminated LD's and spoke to a top cuemaker as well as cheapcues (who are always easy to talk to... I bouhgtmine there as they had a good return policy if I did not decide to keep it.
The edge hits phenomenal, and my game increased about 20-30% from making shots that I may have otherwise missed or somehow squirted. The edge virtually eliminated squirting.
My cuemaker (who is 1 or 25 certified cuemakers) had tried an edge several weeks earlier and he was astounded by its performance, and he has hit everything out there.
I put a medium or soft ultra-skin on it, as the tip that came with it grabbed the cue ball too much, and I spoke to my cuemaker and took his recommendation. (I had an ultra skin on my previous playing cue.
The Edge is the recommended hybrid LD, as Predator and OB have had some reported quality problems with their laminates, splintering or glue issues. I was advised the American made Edge also has the longest taper of the LD's.
It was the BEST single thing I have done to improve my game. I sold the new shaft that came with my Schon SP after testing my new Edge Shaft.
In addition, once you have it you can use it or get another one for future cues and not need any adjustment period.
In my opinion the shaft "seems" to get dings easier, and you shouldn't try to use an iron and wet paper towel on a laminated shaft like I used to do on my basic maple ones... but I have had no problem using micro-git or sandpaper on the cue at all, and there have been no other issues. The ferrule stays clean easily as well.
Nothing is better than this shaft period.
