Edwin Reyes cues on eBay

I was browsing eBay and ran across a cue with the subtitle "EDWIN REYES CUSTOM CUE". Upon looking at the pics, I saw the cue was signed but is dated 2013. I contacted the seller as to how this could be signed by Edwin Reyes 4 years after his passing. I thought it may be something along the lines of Adam using the Bushka signature. The seller (SYASI) informed me that his name is also Edwin Reyes, from the Philippines. Upon further search, I found more of these being sold. (checkmarkauctions -- Chi Town Billiards Inc). I can't speak to the validity of the cue maker's actual name, or the sellers intent. At the very least, I believe it can easily be misleading. I guess that I just want other AZers to be aware and make sure you check things properly.

Wow that's some lame ass dirtbag shit!!! He sad thing is you tried to do the right thing and turned out you informed the accomplice that the rest of their knockoffs have to be dated 4 yrs back or more

There was a message I believe in the regular forum that mentioned the cue maker has the same name as the one that passed away, I believe someone had checked on it and this was true, but they should mention that in the listing if they are selling it.

I certainly understand that a person could have the same name, but to try and use that as a marketing ploy, when the original guy was a legend?

I am sure there are some guys named Gus Szamboti out there, but even Barry did not attempt to use his name...he made his own.

Know What You're Buying

This is why buyers need to be educated. Anyone who places 100% responsibility on the representations of a seller without any personal knowledge or experience on the cuemaker is at least 50% to blame if the cue turns-out to be falsely represented.
